Sitting on the edge of Jennifer's bed, I defeatedly put my head in my hands sighing heavily. I couldnt but help to let my thoughts flow to the first time I actually spoke to my mate.

Flashback

My leg bounced with anticipation at the thought of seeing my mate. I only found her a year ago and I immediately had to go back to my pack. It has been a long year preparing a room for her, and I still have a long way to go before she can call my pack home. Rival packs still try to challenge me for my power, thinking I am an unfit alpha. Until I can solidify my power to all packs, not just my allies, I can not risk my mate's life.

Regardless, I was finally able to take a break from my alpha duties to see my mate. She was currently in the food court eating her early dinner before she headed to the library to study for the rest of the night, alone. I was happy that she ate early because it meant there would be less people and I would be able to see her and hear her better. My wolf was driving me absolutely crazy from not seeing her. We both were ecstatic to spend the day near her.

As I walked up to the food court, I could see her rushing toward the door, causing me to frown. She must have finished earlier than expected. My disappointment was short-lived because I quickly saw the opportunity at hand. As she went to open the door I quickly opened the door and stepped out of the way for her to exit. As I looked into her beautiful green eyes, I heard her gasp. To anyone else, it would have been inaudible but not to my werewolf hearing. Smirking at her obvious attraction toward me, I slowly raked my eyes down her body. She was as beautiful as I remember, if not more so. She had gained a little weight from being in college. However, I thought it made her look even better and instantly turned me on. Her curves were extremely obvious now and I could see her cleavage trying to spill out of her shirt.

"After you beautiful," I said to her causing goosebumps to appear on her arms, indicating her arousal. This sent my wolf into a frenzy and I was struggling to keep him at bay. As much as I wanted to talk to her more, I couldnt risk my wolf causing a scene in front of all these people. It took all of my strength to take a step behind her and allow the door to close behind me. I immediately turned around to look at her, causing instant regret. She looked completely defeated and I could see a single tear roll down her face. She was probably hoping I would ask her out and regret filled my entire chest, knocking the air out of my lungs. From that day on, I vowed to never cause her pain. That is why I never tried to talk to her again and stayed on the sidelines.

Sighing at the thought of this memory I immediately bounced to my feet, causing a concerned look from the sleeping dog next to me. I cant sit here and do nothing anymore, I must get back out there and find my mate. Even if I have to go to every single house in a 50 mile radius, I will find her. More determined than ever, I took one more big inhale of my mate's scent and proceeded to walk to the door.

However, before my hand could even hit the door knob, immense pain in my leg caught me off guard and caused me to stumble. As I tried to steady myself confused as to what just happened, another wave of pain coursed through my body, this time focused at my left shoulder, hip, and my head dissipating as quickly as it came. Steeling my self in anger, I realized this pain was not my own but was coming from my mate. This triggered a thunderous growl from Theo and I causing Missy to run away in fear. Whoever caused Jennifer pain will pay with their life.

Quickly I pressed Marcus's contact on my phone, and I was thankful he answered on the first ring.

"Hello?" he answered clearly exhausted from working to try to find my mate.
