Derek
As we made our way to the Bloodmoon pack I couldn't help but let my thoughts wander to my mate.
Flashback
Finally, after almost 8 months of not seeing my mate, I am able to go back to Tucson to see her. I almost could not contain my wolf from our mutual excitement
We should take our mate back with us where she belongs Theo Gruffed
No, not yet. She is in the middle of school and she has worked too hard for us to ruin it now. Plus the rogue army is expanding rapidly which puts our mate in harm's way I explained back rolling my eyes at his immaturity.
As much as I would love to take our mate back I know it jeopardizes Jennifer's safety, something I am absolutely not willing to do. For now, I must settle with my far and few between trips to see her and her phone tap.
The first thing I did after finding her four years ago was contact my emissaries in the FBI and set up a phone tap. I wanted her location available to her guards and I at all times. I also can see her social media accounts and if anyone is spending a little too much time viewing her profiles. I try to maintain her privacy as much as possible as I am unable to view her text messages and phone calls. I just want to make sure she is safe, and I want to know her interests and personality. This small connection helps to keep my wolf, and admittedly myself, at bay.
I was pulled out of my thoughts as I felt the wheels of the plane touch down on the tarmac of the Tucson Airport. Finally, my wolf and I sighed in relief. I immediately exited my private jet, slipping the pilot a $50 tip.
"I will need to fly back to Washington by Wednesday Night, be sure to make those arrangements," I told him as he handed me the keys to the small black sedan that was to be my vehicle for the next three days. Usually, I would choose a car with more speed and horsepower but I needed to blend in; I didn't want my mate to know I was following her and scare her.
As I made my way to my mate's location, I felt my Beta push on the wall I put up to the pack link.
Have you landed Alpha? He asked.
Yes, I am about 10 minutes away from her I sighed.
You mean 10 minutes away from stalking her creepily in the corner he snickered getting a growl in response from me.
Watch your tone with me Beta I spat. She is my mate and it is my job to protect her. Not only that, but she is mine and I will do what I please. Don't ever question my decisions when it comes to my mate again I commanded using my Alpha tone.
Yes Alpha he responded quickly and I immediately cut off our link
I don't like watching my mate from afar. I want her to be by my side but this is just how it needs to be. This way I can ensure her safety while allowing her to enjoy what she has left of her human life. I also could not be certain that she would survive the change and I was not ready to lose her...
My memory of one of the last times I visited my mate was interrupted by the booming of the loud music flowing out of the Bloodmoon Packhouse and I was instantly annoyed. Why should I be here when I have already found my mate? I knew that I had to keep up appearances but I could not help but be in a bad mood. As we exited the vehicles I could not help to scrutinize their packhouse. It was not the most lavish packhouse I had seen and it pales in comparison to mine.
The building was three stories high and a dingy white color with distinct lines from where rain commonly drips down the building. However, they had a moderate-sized fountain in the middle of the driveway and a lavish staircase leading the way into the packhouse. Despite the pack being less wealthy, and smaller, than most, I know I can count on Alpha Jaxon to be an ally.
