Chapter 15: The Start of A New Friendship

Third Hokage POV

I watched as Naruto jumped around from his victory against Neji. He seemed surprised as did everyone else that he had beat him. But I was anxious. Waiting for two genin that had their matches postponed.

Sasuke Uchihas match had already been pushed back. But the one genin that I was waiting for was the same one I told not to be late. That damn girl. Never listens does she. Another match has passed as it got closer to Rins match. Her match was after Sasuke's so it can't postponed much.

As if someone had heard my thoughts. A wind blew and some leaves floated through the air creating a beautiful scene. This ended when Sasuke and Kakashi were seen.

From the corner of my eye I noticed the Kazekage straighten. He was quiet for most of the exam. After some discussion I saw Gaara come down to begin his match against Sasuke. Hmm. He looks like a red panda.

"Hey. Third? Am I disqualified? Or you know?" A voice called out from the arena.

A smile grew on my face as I saw the girl I have trained for the past month. Her blond hair was now shorter. A little bit over her shoulders but put into a small ponytail.

"Now what have I told you about being late? Get to the waiting area and wait for your match!" I yelled down at her. However, I couldn't help but smile at her as her eyes shone with confidence and gleamed with determination.

"Is it true that you trained the girl yourself Lord Hokage?" The voice coming from the Kazekage asked.

Looking towards him, I nodded. "This is why I cannot judge Rin as I already believe of her ability. So I ask for you to watch closely." When I haven't received a response I believed all was well.

Never would I have thought my village was attacked by that snake. And never would I have thought that he was sitting next to me all along.

Finally appearing and getting a scolding from the Third. I turned to Sasuke who defiantly needed a haircut.

"What are you staring at duckbutt? Just so your prepared. The two of us are going to get haircuts." I chuckled.

He smirked and looked at me, as if he was analyzing if I had gotten stronger. Which I had. But so had he. And he also got taller. I might as well add that his new wardrobe change was actually cool too. It suited him.

"You better win your fight. I want to verse you as well as Naruto" he smirked.

"Well then. First you better win yours." With that said I jumped off to where the other candidates were waiting for their matches. As I got there. The match had already begun but I felt that something was wrong.

The way the birds stopped chirping. The way the breeze shifted, and the sudden cold feeling. Something was going to happen. And happen it did.

A genjutsu

Releasing it quickly i noticed my surroundings. I saw from the corner of my eye The Hokage and what seemed like Orochimaru fighting in a barrier held by four people. Probably his followers. Turning my head, I saw Kakashi and Guy fighting some ninjas and Sakura trying to wake up Naruto.

Looking down I saw Sasuke chase after Gaara. Making a quick decision. Thinking how the old man would want me to save a friend, I went after Sasuke. Not even turning around as the yells of my team and friends called me back.

Knowing it was stupid I had to follow him I had to stop him. I saw part of Gaaras ability, how he was ruthless and heartless. Especially when he killed Dosu. I couldn't allow Sasuke to fight him, but maybe it was because I wanted to fight him myself. To test my own ability. No! You just don't want your teammate to get hurt. You're not going to fight anyone unless it's necessary.
