Hannah was going to start treatment for her Ewing sarcoma very soon. Hannah was worried about it. Hannah already had her Central Venous Catheter put in so she wouldn't have to get so many shots. Her dad had taken her out shopping to find what she would like to wear when her hair fell out. After looking at all the wigs, scarves, bandanas and hats, Hannah selected a beanie hat to wear and she was going to get more hats later.

Hannah's friends at school heard she was sick with cancer and they were stunned. They didn't know kids could get cancer.

Today Hannah was going to the hospital to start her treatment. They headed to Children's Medical center Dallas with a bag packed because Hannah was going to stay there for a while. Her parents told her she was being very brave. But Hannah didn't feel brave at the moment she was too scared to be brave. Once there Hannah was checked in and nurse put a bracelet with her name on it around her wrist. "It is so everyone knows who you are Hannah," the nurse said.

"Okay," Hannah said.

Then things were starting to get moving. Lots of tests were done before hand. Hannah had pictures taken of her insides and had a special cast made to go over her leg. "It is to help with your radiotherapy Hannah," the tech said.

Hannah was soon going to start her chemotherapy. They got things ready and they were ready to go. The nurse came in with an IV pole and pump, there was a bag of medicine. It made Hannah nervous to see it. Then the nurse set up the IV and then hooked the line of the bag to her Hickman line. That was all there was too it. Hannah didn't feel a thing, it wasn't so bad, she was starting to feel brave.

Hannah could do what she wanted while getting her Chemotherapy infusion. "Would you like to go to the playroom?" the nurse asked.

"Playroom?" Hannah asked.

"Yes, it is a big room with all kinds of toys and games for all ages," the nurse said.

"Okay," Hannah said. She grabbed Willow the Turtwig and followed the nurse to the playroom. Hannah was able to take the IV with her. She saw the playroom it was full of many kids. Some of the kids were reading, a few were doing art, a couple were doing music, some were playing video games, others were playing board games, and a few were playing with toys. There were kids of many ages there, some were teens, others were tweens, some were big kids, other were little kids like her, a few were toddlers and there were even babies. Many nurses were there too.

"There are a lot of kids here," Hannah said.

"Yes there are many kids in the hospital and they all have something they need help with, a few need surgery for something minor or major, a few are hurt, some have problems with organs, some are sick, others have disorders, and some have cancer like you," the nurse said.

"They do?" Hannah asked.

"Yes, some have cancer of the blood, some in their kidneys, liver, lungs or lymph nodes, some in their brain and others it effects their bones like you," the nurse said. "All of them are getting treatment to get better," she said.

"Wow," Hannah said.

Hannah started to play with Willow the Turtwig and there were other kids with plush Pokemon. They came up to her. "Can we play with you?" they asked.

"Sure," Hannah said.

"My name is Dexter, what is your name?" Dexter asked.

"Hannah," Hannah said.

"My name is Nate," Nate said.

"I am Lucy," Lucy said.

"Why are you guys in the hospital?" Dexter asked.

"I am here getting cancer treatment," Hannah said.

"Small world I am here getting treatment for cancer too," Nate said.

"Same here," Lucy said.

"Me too," Dexter said. "What kind of cancer are you getting treatment for? My cancer is in my kidneys," he said.

"I am getting treatment for cancer in my brain,"  Nate said.

"Treatment for cancer in my blood," Lucy said.

"I am getting treatment for cancer in my bones." Hannah said. "It is right here in my left leg and I getting a chemotherapy infusion at the moment it is my first one," she said.

"Same here." they said pointing at their IVs.

Hannah was soon playing with her new friends. Then the time came for Hannah to go back to her hospital room. Soon after her chemotherapy infusion was done she had an upset stomach. But the nurse gave her some medicine to help her feel better.

Hannah now was going to stay in the hospital for a while.  Her parents stayed for a while. "Hannah we have to go now," Tracy said.

"We will be back soon," Michael said kissing her on top of her head.

They left and Hannah cried.

While in the hospital the doctors and nurses checked on Hannah on regular basis. A child life specialist came in to help Hannah with her feelings and understand her treatment. Hannah actually thought it was nice.

Hannah also got to order what she wanted to eat from a menu and order room service. There was TV in her room with shows, movies and music, there was also a radio in her room. Hannah could watch the TV and listen to the radio if she wanted too. There were also other children to talk with in the hospital.

After a couple of days she started her radiotherapy. It didn't hurt one bit, there was a bright light and a funny smell. It didn't hurt one bit, in fact Hannah didn't feel a thing. But the hard part was Hannah had to stay still for it.

Hannah also got another Chemotherapy infusion at that time and felt tired afterwards and took a nap.

After a few more days of being in the hospital Hannah got to go back home. But she was still too sick to go to school. So she had to stay home and rest. She also had to come back to the hospital and clinic for regular visits, for treatment, tests and check ups. It was going to be a lot but she was sure she could handle it.
