~Caitlyn's gaze burned over me
As I carefully made my way through her ridiculously huge backyard from her bedroom window, clambering swiftly over the large fence and thumping down with a small grunt on the other side. I turned my head to look over my shoulder at her, finding her brilliant eyes on me, head cocked adorably to the side, loose strands of dark hair spilling over her shoulder.

I smirked and admired the flower I had tucked behind her ear, then gave a little wave, suddenly shy. Man, she was pretty. Her returned smile had me biting my lip nervously, ears warm.

There was a call from inside the house, and Caitlyn's head whipped around for a moment before looking back to me. She made a shooing motion, eyes gleaming. 'Go', she mouthed. I winked, then slunk away into the city, heart happy.

The walk back through the Undercity was much less happy. I felt almost apprehensive, the cut on my face stinging angrily as I neared Jericho's. The large fish humanoid was back to his regular chipper self, laughing boisterously and chopping thick slabs of various dead creatures with his large blades. I had no idea what he'd done with the people that had jumped me, but I didn't exactly feel like finding out. Something told me to avoid his meat for a couple days. Didn't matter how much orange glaze he put on it.

Jericho spotted me as I passed, and I gave him a salute, flipping him a gold coin I'd swiped from a Piltie lawyer on my way down. He caught it with the flat side of a knife, sliding the currency into his apron. We shared a solemn nod -mine a silent thank you, his a quiet acknowledgment- and I continued on my way home.
