I ran through the maze of buildings, warm tears streaming down my face. I suddenly crashed into a wall. Why did it have to be night? Why weren't there lights or the moon even?
"Why would I ever want to be friends with you," I sobbed as Jen caught up with me. She had her normal devilish grin on her face, but it seemed crueler that normal. "I mean at first I did... but you left me for a monster Casey. You left me because you were in love with a monster. After that I realized I didn't want to be friends with a freak like you anyway."
"Y-you aren't real," I cried as I stumbled to my feet and kept running. "None of this is real..."
"You're right," I winced at the sudden light. It took my eyes a second to adjust. A few flames danced across Lyle's fingertips as he gave me a small smile. I gasped when I saw him though. There was blood dripping down his forehead. When he noticed me staring he only laughed. "What?" he taunted as he walked over. "It's only a dream Casey." I backed up as he came closer, shaking. I knew it was a dream, but it felt real. "You want to know what this dream is about Casey?"
"No," I shook my head as my back hit a wall. "I want to wake up."
"You're a monster Casey," Lyle whispered as he pinned me against the wall. There were tears in his eyes, threatening to stream down his face. "You just don't know it... you're a bomb, and sooner or later you are going to explode. You know that. That's why you're having this dream..." he sighed and took a shaky breath. It killed me to see him so sad. I quickly hugged him, not worrying what could happen. He hugged back, and as he did I could feel him shaking. "Casey you're going to hurt everyone..." He whispered as he pulled away from me. "You're going to kill everyone you care about."
"I won't Lyle," I told him as tears continued to run down my face. "I promise I won't." Lyle ignored me as he disappeared, and all the light faded.
"Casey," Josh's voice made me freeze in terror.
"No... no I want to wake up," I cried.
"Casey why would I love someone like you?" I could hear his voice, but I couldn't see him. "I mean look at yourself. Who would love someone like you anyway?"
"This is just a dream..." I told myself as I slid to the ground.
"It is," Josh agreed, "and I think it's time you woke up."
I shot awake screaming. When I realized I was awake I sighed in relief.
"Another bad dream?" Josh asked from across the room. It was dark, and I wondered why he was all the way over there.
"Y-yes," I nodded as I turned on the lamp next to my bed. When I did a scream escaped my lips. His eyes were golden, his half smile was crooked to where it looked like a murderous smirk, and his voice seemed off... it was taunting and hateful.
"Did you really think you could kill me Casey?" he grinned, and my heart seemed to stop. His teeth were coated in blood. He seemed to notice the look of horror on my face and laughed. "You won't want to go to Jen's room... it's quite a mess." The tears that I had managed to stop came rushing back. Josh was gone... so was Jen.
"Y-you," I could feel anger build up inside me, but I couldn't show it.
"'y-you' what?" The curse taunted my voice as he skipped over. "I'm a monster? I should leave the people you care about alone? Leave forever? Well Casey fine. I will, but here the thing..." He leaned so close I could feel his breath on my ear. "why don't you make me."
"I..." I broke down and pulled Josh, well the curse, closer. "I want Josh back," I sobbed. "P-please."
"Casey," The curse suddenly shouted my name and shook me roughly. I whimpered and pulled back.
