It's the 49th day.

We're now back sitting on the bench outside the same bakeshop wherein I got pastries for the girls on her 1st day. It's a cold, chilly day.

Today, I am going to make a big decision.

"We had a pretty good ride," she said.

I just smiled and sighed.

"Admit it, we also had a great sex life," she winked at me.

I slapped her arm and laughed.

We went silent for a few minutes and just breathed in the cold and crisp air.

She let out a sigh and looked at me. She stood up and extended her arm, "You ready?"

I looked at her in the eyes as I stand up and hold her hand. "Yes. I've been waiting for a year."

She smiled and led me to a path leading upwards.

(Back to reality)

The night of Chaeyoung's 1st death anniversary, Mina had a really long dream about her coming back into her life for 49 days. During the dream, they have reminisced all the memories they have spent together, as well as the memories with the girls.

Throughout the dream, Chaeyoung has been telling Mina to move on from her and try to be happy with her life. However, Mina's heart doesn't want to. She really can't live without Chaeyoung. She's been very lost, fragile, and lonely with her broken heart. That's why on the 49th day in her dream, Chaeyoung decided to just invite Mina with her to paradise.

Thus, at 2:17 PM on December 29, 2022, Mina peacefully died in her sleep after going with Chaeyoung to paradise in her dream. The girls all gathered around her bed and called the ambulance, still hoping for her to revive back to life. But by the time she was brought to the hospital, the doctor announced her dead on arrival. The girls all mourned for her and made a conclusion that she died of a broken heart. After all, they have witnessed how Mina was during that dreadful year. It was a hard year for everyone, including the girls. And now, they have to undergo that again. But this time, the feeling is much lighter, since they know deep inside their hearts that Mina and Chaeyoung are finally happy together in paradise.

CHAEYOUNG'S P.O.V.
Finally, I'm with the love of my life again. This time, I'm walking alongside her on the bridge to paradise. We're holding hands as we walk, and giggling since we're together again.

"Why did you fetch me just now, love?" she acted angrily and pouted but I just chuckled and pinched her cheeks.

"You're the cutest penguin ever, Minari," I said. "Well, I was hoping that you'll find peace within yourself and move on some day. I've been hoping, each and everyday. However, you just seem to get worse day by day. Then I told myself that after a year, if nothing still happens, I'll go fetch you."

She suddenly stopped her tracks so I stopped mine as well. She turned to face me and said, "That was the worst year of my life, Son Chaeyoung."

I suddenly became guilty because of my negligence. I should've fetched her then and there last year.

"I know, I'm sorry," I sighed. Then she suddenly pulled me in and hugged me tight.

"But I don't care now. You're with me again. I'm so glad. I missed you to death, love," she said.

"I love you so much, love. I'm sorry again, for letting you wait so long." She broke the hug and cupped my jaw.

"No worries now." She then pulled me in for a long, passionate kiss.

I miss this. I miss us. I returned the kiss with so much passion and intimacy as well.

I suddenly pulled away and said, "Why don't we continue this in paradise?"

I took her hand and we happily walk towards our destination together.

We might not have a happy ending in this life, but I'm more than positive that our ending is so much better in the other universes. Besides, in each and every universe, there's always Mina and Chaeyoung, who is very much madly and deeply in love with each other.
