Chapter 32: Mysterious Songstress

They were sent from Diamond Kingdom to recover anything a value for our homeland. There were a total of ten of them, including their trump card, a young man with light purple hair, pink eyes, and three gemstones embedded in his forehead, by the name of Mars. The commander of the team, Adjutant General Lotus Whomalt gave him an order to go ahead and find the treasure room, while the others would search the place for the remains of our people who disappeared in the dungeon. Yeah, it did sound like a dumb idea when people had been going missing in there, but since it's Mars, he was not as worried. After all, he's much stronger than all of them

  While they were looking around, Lotus heard footsteps from behind me. He turned to see a woman wearing a straw hat covering much of her face and a flowery red kimono, carrying a shamisen.
Lotus' teammates also seemed to noticed her and he asked her, "Who are you? What are you doing down here?" She replied, "My name is Hibiki, and I'm here looking for my little brother. We were traveling along the border and my brother, who's always an adventurous boy, ran off to into this dungeon. I came here after him. Why are you all here?" Lotus couldn't sense any hostility or trickery from her words, in fact her voice seemed to be rather alluring. His men were actually flirting with her while saying they would help her find her brother, it was like they never seen a woman before. Lotus spoke up and said, "We're here looking for some of our people who went missing in this dungeon too. You may come with us while we search for them, we might find your brother along the way." She smiled and replied, "Thank you. By the way, I don't believe I got your name." He said, "My name is Lotus Whomalt, pleasure to meet you." She smiled and nodded before they continued their search.

  It had probably been an hour since they ran into Hibiki, and they haven't found any trace of her brother or their comrades. The Diamond mages were about to give up until one of them called out to their leader, " General Lotus! You should see this!" They all rushed over to see what he had found, and saw something gruesome. A pile of bloodied human bones, wearing our uniforms. This was a clear indication that they had just found our missing comrades. However, by the looks of that mess, it was something more disturbing. "It's a feeding ground. Something is here, eating people." Lotus stated. It was then they heard sobbing. The mages turned to see that Hibiki was started to cry. Lotus knew why she was sad, she was worried that her brother could end up like his countrymen. To comfort her, one of his men walked up to her and said, "Don't worry, there's no sign of your brother anywhere near this room, so he must be alive. We'll find him. I promise." She looked at him, put her hand on his cheek and replied, "You're so sweet." He blushed. And suddenly Lotus felt a chill.

  The general saw a sinister smile appear on Hibiki's face as fingernails sharpened into claws. She swiftly swiped her hand and her claws now slit the man's throat, and he fell dead on the ground. The Diamond mages were all shocked to see that the seemingly innocent woman had just killed one of the people that had helped her. The shock turned to anger as they all drew our grimoires, ready to attack. Before they could even prepare a spell, Hibiki called out,

  "Blood Demon Art: Sweet Melody of Death."

  And she started to play a song on her instrument, the sound of her music had a very bizarre effect that got hold of them immediately. The mages of Diamond weren't able to move our bodies. We were aware of what was going on, but we couldn't even lift a finger. When we were all under her spell, she then called out,

"Blood Demon Art: Strumming Death!"

  She plucked the string of her instrument and shockwave in the form of a slash came flying at them. It cut down five of the Diamond mages She immediately performed the same attack again and killed three more, leaving Lotus the only one alive. She walked up to him and said, "You human men are so gullible, you see a pretty girl and you fall all over her. That's what makes you such easy prey for demons like me." That was when he realized that she was lying to them about losing her brother in here, she wanted to lure him and his comrades into a trap so she could kill them. What she said next made the general truly scared for his life, "I had hunted my meals using the same method before, you and your men are no different." Lotus then knew that she was responsible for killing his countrymen. The pile of bones they found were her victims which she had devoured, and he was going to be next. Hibiki then lunged at the Diamond Kingdom general and begun to devour him. As soon as her teeth sunk into his flesh, Lotus started screaming in agony, which echoed through the dungeon. Shortly after she began feasting, someone had arrived on site.

  I had gave Noelle and Captain Yami the slip so I could fight the powerful mages I sensed. I know Captain Yami was going to kill me for disobedience but I couldn't help myself. As I approached the source of the strong mana, I heard a man screaming. I finally arrived and saw a group of Diamond Kingdom mages dead on the floor, and in the middle of it all, I found the source of the screaming and what I saw shook me to my core. It was a woman eating a man alive. I had seen a lot of things in my time as a magic knight, but this woman made me afraid for the first time in life.

  I continued to watch as I was frozen in fear when I sensed Captain Yami and Noelle approaching me from behind. Once they caught up, they too saw the gruesome sight I was witnessing. They too were horrified by the sight before them. Noelle in particular gasped which gained the attention of the woman. The woman turned her head to see us, and said, "More food? It must be my lucky day."  We all knew what she meant at that moment, she was going to kill and eat us too. She stood up with a musical instrument in hand, one I had never seen before. As soon as she turned to face us, we all pulled out our grimoires and prepared for her attack. "Hate to break it to you, but this meal is fighting back." Captain Yami declared. "Lovely, I get dinner and a show." The woman replied with a sinister grin, and the battle began.
