Chapter 31: The Hunt Begins

(Julius' p.o.v.)

  I was sitting in my office doing paperwork, bored out of my mind, when Marx came in and said, "Lord Julius, the Black Bulls and Golden Dawn have sent their teams to the dungeon, as you instructed." I replied, "Thank you, Marx." He seemed to have something on his mind and I asked, "Is something wrong?" Marx replied, "I was wondering why you assigned Yami to this mission, sending a squad captain to conquer a dungeon seems like overkill, does it not?" I answered, "True, but sending Yami to conquer a dungeon wasn't what I had in mind." He seemed confused. "What do you mean?" I explained, "As you know, people have been vanishing in the past several months. After the Captain's Meeting 6 months ago, thanks to Yami, we learned that these disappearances have been caused by demons. And with the cases of people going into the dungeon in question and never leaving, makes it likely that a demon is prowling around there." Marx appeared to have caught on and finished my explanation, "If there is a demon there, it will likely try to kill the Magic Knights we sent in. And since demons can't be killed by magic, the juniors of the Black Bulls and Golden Dawn won't hold out against it. So, you sent in someone who's strong enough to keep it at bay until the Demon Slayers arrive." I replied, "Indeed, and Yami has been taught about demons powers by his father, so he's the best choice to protect the rookie Magic Knights." He understood my reasons for sending him. I looked out the window and thought, 'My only hope, is that the Demon Slayers get to the dungeon in time to help Yami and the others.'

  With the Demon Slayers

  (Liebe's p.o.v.)

  We had arrived at the entrance of the dungeon, and I was amazed by how big it was. It was the first time I had ever seen a dungeon, so I couldn't help but be impressed, and that is hard to do as is. "You guys need to watch your every step while you're in there, dungeons are full of traps that can potentially kill you if you're not careful." Sanemi said. We nodded and started walking inside to begin our hunt for the demons inside.

  We eventually found ourselves in a massive room with passageways littering the walls, and waterways flowing in every direction.

 

  "Well this is confusing, just like the inside of Uzui's head." The others chuckled at my comment. "True, he's an enigma." Iguro replied. Asta said, "Well, we better get to work. For all we know, a demon could be chewing on some Magic Knight's ass while he's still alive right now." "You're right. As funny as that would be to watch, we can't let the demons eat anymore mages. They could be as powerful as an lower moon by now or worse. Plus, there could be more Magic Knights on the way, if they aren't here already." Sanemi replied. I stated, "We should pair off and the place." "The most likely place we would find a demon in here is the treasure room, where all the valuables are kept. Both teams should be searching for that." Iguro said. "Alright, then that should also be our rendezvous point. Liebe, your with me, we'll go down the path in front. Sanemi and Iguro will take the path on the left." We nodded and split into the assigned groups.

   With Black Bulls team.

  (Noelle's p.o.v.)

We had just arrived at the entrance to the dungeon via Finral's spatial magic. Captain Yami said, "Listen up, be sure to stick with me and don't get split up. Remember, we don't know what is making people disappear in this dungeon." He looked at Luck and continued, "Especially you, Luck. Don't you dare leave my sights." He nodded disappointed that he wouldn't be able to search for powerful opponents. But, Captain Yami was right, there was no telling what was making people disappear. "Alright, let's get in there already." With that, we all walked in.

  Timeskip

  We found ourselves in a massive room with passageways and gravity defying waterways all over the walls. As we were observing around the chamber, a felt something grab my ankle. I quickly looked to see a bunch of vines had wrapped around my leg. I knew that I had accidentally walked into a trap. The vines yanked me into the air, and a giant, carnivorous plant emerged from the water. I knew that it was planning to eat me, but then I heard my captain say,

  "Dark Magic: Dark Cloaked Lightless Slash!"

  He swung his sword and a pitch black slash flew at the plant, cutting it in half. I fell the ground and Captain Yami went up to me and asked, "You alright, Noelle?" I replied, "Somehow. Thanks for the save, Captain Yami." He nodded and I had noticed something. "Where's Luck?" Captain Yami's eyes widen and looked around to see that Luck was gone. Before we could start looking for him, we heard a familiar voice say, "How've you been, Noelle?" I turned to see Yuno, Mimosa, and Klaus from the Golden Dawn standing in a passage on the wall. "Yuno? Mimosa?I wasn't expecting to see you here." The three of them jumped down and walked over to us. " We could say the same of you. I wasn't expecting you to be one of the Black Bulls that were sent here." Mimosa replied. "Hey, I thought three of you were sent, where's the last one?" Yuno asked. Captain Yami answered, "He ran off when we weren't looking. Damn battle hungry maniac, ignored my orders to stay with the group." Klaus was surprised by my Captain's statement and said, "Battle hungry? You mean Luck the Cheery Berserker? He's here?" Captain Yami replied, "That's right. I'm going to kill that idiot when I find him." Mimosa changed the subject by saying, "So Captain Yami, should my team head to the treasure room before Diamond mages get there while you and Noelle look for Luck?" He turned to her and replied, "Yes, but stay on constant high alert. We don't know what is making people vanish in this place. One of you has a communicator, right?" Yuno replied, "I have one." "Good, if you get into any danger, call us and we'll come to you as fast as we can, understood?" One by one, the Golden Dawn team acknowledged Captain Yami, the last one, Klaus, begrudgingly did the same. With that, we split up to look for the treasure room and Luck
