Eret pov~

Well that was interesting.

Portal was definitely an... interesting character.

Their aura was constantly filling with negative emotions, particularly loneliness, guilt, sadness and most prominent- anxiety. They had a dark past, I could tell that much, but I still needed to ask Niki to read their memories.

After the syndicate returned form their patrol, portals aura was especially dark, with lots of pent up anger and frustration, which I soon found out from Wilbur was because they had to arrest a vigilante. Being a vigilante themselves, I could understand why Portal would be upset.

Quackity was a hero that I was never sure of, his aura was always dark, yet he portrayed a fairly happy demina, though its become less used since the whole Karl and Sapnap thing with him, in fact we barley see him anymore, but the other heroes don't particularly like him due to many taking Karls side or simply because they never knew him that well.

Tonight as Quackity was getting ready for his patrol he seemed especially down, his aura being completely black. I almost went over to check on him, but as I stood up to do so, the Syndicate came through the door and I was distracted by Portals dark aura.

Like all the other hoers in the room, I closely monitored the interaction between Quackity and Portal but nothing seemed amiss.

That was until Quackity turned around to go the the wide open window to jump out, but Portal quickly reached out and put their hand on his shoulder. Immediately I saw Quackitys aura change, extreme fear filled it and he swiftly moved away and turned to face Portal, his eyes wide.

Now that was both interesting and concerning. why would Quackity be afraid of someone putting their hand on his shoulder? And why did he react like that?

Could I patrol with you?

Portal sighed, his aura filling with anxiety as his hands shook slightly. Quackitys eyes went wide and he stayed stock still for several seconds before suddenly jolting and blinking rapidly,

"I- uh- um- ye- yeah- yeah sur- sure." He stuttered out, "you- you can join me." With that he quickly looked away and walked back to the window, with pPrtal hot on his tail.

I didn't particularly have anything against Quackity, I mean yeah I had believed what Karl had said until I was reading Quackitys aura at that time, it was full of betrayal and hurt. Ever since then his aura had only darkened, I was kinda worried about him to be honest, but he was so distant and I didn't really want to engage, our jobs were hard enough as they were.

Quackity pov~

Portal was getting to close to find out how I truly feel, they cant know, they have to believe the lies Karl created.

I didn't exactly blame Karl, his quirk could let him slow down time or go into the past or go into alternate realities. I still don't really understand it, and its not like Karl would tell me now.

I was the first one to realize he was constantly forgetting things, mostly small things, Sapnap realized too but shrugged it off as Karl being tired all the time. When I confronted Karl about his memory, I saw something change in his eyes, they had the cyan swirl they do whenever he was using his quirk, it disappeared quickly and he suddenly acted like he didn't know who I was, stating that I was the one who kills him in these realities and that I was just trying to confuse him. Of cause I exploded, my pain being the driving force. I said some things that I'd had on my mind for a while about his memory, but he shouted that I was manipulating him, and of cause all the heroes immediately took his side.

Sapnap was torn in the middle, but eventually chose Karl over me.

What had I expected to be honest?

They had already been dating when I joined their relationship. I intruded on it and now I was no longer part of it.

I always ruined everything because I was always the problem.

Schlatt taught me that.

Wilbur pov~

Why did Quackity seem so... skeptical? I hadn't realized he had so many trust issues, I mean when we first met him he was un-trusting but not this much! Back then Quackity had so much more life, he was also a lot happier and friendly. I kinda miss that version of him, but now wasn't the time to pine as I had to look over some case files.

I turned to Phil, "so who's been causing the most trouble lately?" I sighed, making Phil snort before chucking a pile of files and continuing to sip his tea.

I put them on the desk and saw that there were four of them.

The first one was on Portal, the file had been changed a bit though as they were now working with us, but we still needed to be cautious with them. They'd filled out some of the information about themselves that we were missing, only the enhancement info though, as they had refused to give us any more information. They did indeed have a teleportation quirk- could only teleport others through physical contact, left purple particles behind for a few seconds after teleporting, and if the enhancement was over used they were had memory problems until they recovered.

I moved their file aside and looked at the next one- Nuclear. He was one of Portals teammates on the Bench Trio, and again Portal refused to give us any information on him, not that I could blame them for not wanting to rat out their teammate. From what we understood, he had some sort of goat enhancement- having the horns, ears, tail and legs of a goat, along with increased strength and jumping abilities, drawback unknown. Hopefully both him and Theseus would calm down and fall under the radar now that Portal was with us.

Speeking of Theseus, his file was next on the pile. Again, we had limited information, but I most certainly knew that he was loud and obnoxious. He had a raccoon enhancement- having the tail and ears of a raccoon, a black mask around his eyes, enhanced speed, agility, dexterity and night vision also seemed to come with it, that and he was very good at climbing into places he shouldn't be, drawback unknown.

I sighed, was the forth file going to be on a vigilante as well?

The answer was no.

I sat up straighter the second I saw the bold black letters of "Villain" across the top of the file. We have a system were there is green writing saying "Hero" if the person in the file was a hero, red writing saying "Vigilante" if the person was a vigilante, and black writing saying "Villain" if the person was a villain.

I took a deep breath and opened the file, staring straight at the only real picture we had of this villain, and even it was a pretty shitty picture.

Ender.
