After school as I'm leaving the premises flash comes over and pushes me into the wall pinning me. "Hey, penis parker! "He spits in my face. "What do you want flash." I spit back. he looks taken aback for a second then just plain angry. I get scared for a second and 'struggle' to get out of his grip. before I can get out however he punches me in the gut making me hurl over in pain. his goons laugh as flash punches me again and again until I'm on the floor then he starts kicking me. his goons continue laughing as they walk away with flash after my beating. i could fight back but the old me wouldn't have been able to, so it would raise suspicions and then he would move on to other people who can't take his beatings, but I can so I do.

when I get home may is waiting for me. "Why are you late." she asks with a monotone voice. I gulp. "a kid from school beat me up." I went with the truth because she will be proud of that kid and maybe not beat me. she laughs and smiles. "I need to thank that kid, he gets it." she laughs again and walks away. I sigh and go to my bedroom and flop onto the bed. bad idea. I wince and suck in a breath. I slowly pick up my phone to check the time and see 99+ notifications from the group chat. I laugh but don't feel like answering so I place my phone back down and go to sleep. today was exhausting and the city can go one night without spider man.
the next morning when I wake up, I leave my room get a beating from may then walk to school. on my way I notice in a tv store the news was on saying that last night Delmar's lit aflame and 10 people died including the owners of the store. my heart knots and I fall to my knees as they show pictures of everyone who died. Mr. Delmar, Ned and Mj. tears stream down my face as I clutch my heart. it was my fault. if I had gone out as spider-man, I could have saved them. at least if I had accepted to go to Delmar's to study with them, I either would have died with them or saved them. tears stream down my face faster as I scream at the top of my lungs. people on the streets look at me weird but I don't care, until a man comes up and puts a hand on my shoulder. I flinch away as he says. "You alright kid?" I shake my head no and stand shakily. "My best friend, only friends, just died." I say pointing to the screen which is still talking about the incident. I finally look up at the man and realize it's THE winter soldier. "Oh my god Mr. Soldier sir I didn't mean to waste your time." he chuckles and puts his arm around my shoulders. I flinch slightly. he doesn't seem to notice. "you're not wasting my time." he say walking me down the street towards the... tower? why are we walking in this direction. as if he read my mind he said. "Do you want to come to the tower with me maybe meet some of the others and calm down relax a little. I know it's hard when you lose the people you love." I respond by nodding and a small 'ok'.
