Hyunjung has always been a good person. At least morally speaking.

She always tries her best to understand other people's situations and their reasons for differing from herself. Some would call it progressive, she just sees it as human decency.

That being said, she's not perfect. She has difficulty accepting things at times, but eventually she finds herself to be able to make peace with these things.

Being in a religious all-girls school, it's not baffling to come across gay people as often as she does. In fact, it'd probably be easier to single out the straight ones, rather.

When she first arrived as a young fourteen-year-old, fresh in high school, she could not bear the thought. Gay people? At a religious school, no less? Those were the thoughts that often occupied her mind. Nonetheless, she grew out of the immature phase of being prejudiced fairly quickly.

Now she resides within a group of gay girls as the only straight one. They often refer to her as their "token straight" and she couldn't be happier with her fun and lively group of friends.

"Did you hear about the new girl?" Sojung says to no one in particular in between bites of her lunch.

"Yeah, I heard she's from a co-ed school across the country," Juyeon says excitedly, ever so eager to add a friend to her long and growing list.

"If any of you have class with her, ask her to join us at lunch" she adds hastily as she packs up her things, bouncing off to her next class.

Hyunjung doesn't deliver her two cents, she's content with their friend group as is. She also prepares to leave and bids her friends farewell for now.

Outside of her Bible study classroom stands a girl with her eyes glued to her phone. She must be the new girl because she clearly doesn't know about the no phones rule.

"Hey, you might want to put that away before a teacher confiscates it" Hyunjung speaks softly, hoping she's loud enough to be heard above all the hallway commotion. The girl swivels her head in Hyunjung's direction and she can feel her breath catching in her throat.

The new girl was pretty. No, not just pretty, she was gorgeous. Did God himself send down one of his angels to bless their school? Because Hyunjung thinks that he might just have.

Then when she speaks, even her voice is that of an angel, "Are phones not allowed?" She asks, her eyebrows scrunching together in confusion. It's thick with a regional accent that she can't identify and her register is the perfect balance between high and low.

Hyunjung can't trust her own vocal cords not to betray her, so she simply nods. The girl quickly pockets her phone and faces Hyunjung once more.

She smiles and Hyunjung is embarrassed to say that her knees get a little weak. Her gums are on full display and her eyes form little crescents of their own. She has dimples too. She doesn't think she's ever seen such a perfect smile.

"I'm Jiyeon" She sticks her hand out to Hyunjung and she fumbles with her possessions before accepting the outstretched olive branch. Even her hands are soft.

"Hyunjung" she replies briskly, in fear that she might sound shy or anxious if she talks too much (which she is). They head into class and surprisingly Jiyeon trails behind her and takes the seat to her right.
