A brisk wind whipped through the city, carrying with it the distant hum of traffic. The sky, a brilliant expanse of blue, was gently mottled with wispy clouds that raced across the canvas. Dáinn stood at the precipice of the building, his hair dancing in the updraft. A sense of exhilaration mingled with the biting chill.

Beside him, a young girl clung to a soft, orange cat, her small frame trembling slightly. Her eyes, wide with a mix of fear and wonder, were fixed on the dizzying drop below.

The pink headband that encircled her head seemed to clash with the intensity of the moment. Her breath came in short, rapid gasps. The cat, oblivious to the height, purred contentedly, its warm body a source of comfort for the girl.

"It's quite windy up here, isn't it?" Dáinn remarked, his voice cutting through the wind. His tone was steady, a contrast to the girl's obvious distress.
She nodded, her voice barely whispering, "Very."

~Before This Event~

Draped in shadow, a man in black surveyed the bustling thoroughfare with a predatory gleam in his eye. The city throbbed with life, a cacophony of noise and movement that masked the darker undercurrents.

His gaze drifted to a narrow alleyway, where indistinct shapes huddled in the gloom. A smirk tugged at his lips as he contemplated the scene.

"A little company would be most agreeable," he murmured, his voice as smooth as velvet. The alley fell silent, save for the soft scuff of shoes on worn brick.

After a while, a little girl is running through the crowd, trying to catch her cat. She stops next to the alleyway, running inside. "Kitty..? Come on, please come here" the girl cried out, her voice echoing through the alleyway.

Her gaze snapped upwards as she spotted her cat perched precariously on top of a restaurant sign. A surge of panic ignited within her as she tried to devise a rescue plan.

While she was formulating a daring strategy, a creeping shadow caught her peripheral vision. Turning, her heart pounded as she saw a cloaked figure emerging from the alleyway.

The man was entirely shrouded in darkness, his face obscured by the deep shade.

"Hello, young lady. Do you need any help?" The man's voice was smooth, almost inviting, yet there was an undercurrent of something sinister lurking beneath the surface.

"You scared me there... But, yes. My cat is running away from me and I can't catch him..." Her voice trembled slightly as she explained her predicament.

A flicker of concern crossed his face before he replied, "Don't worry, I can help you." His tone was soothing, almost reassuring. The girl's eyes widened in hope. "Really? Please help me!" Her voice was filled with desperation and gratitude.

A sly grin spread across the man's face as he replied, "No need to beg, he's already here." He held up the struggling cat, its tiny claws desperately trying to find purchase on the man's black suit.

The girl's eyes darted between the man and the cat in confusion before a wave of joy washed over her. She sprinted towards the man and snatched her beloved pet from his grasp.
