Narrator's POVToday, Y/n felt way better, so why not go out and do something. She dressed up and went out to do a few things, run errands and buy a few things. She bought a considerable amount of ice cream, coffee, tea, some snacks and groceries. She put everything in her handy tote bag and went on her way home.
On the way home, she was intrigued by the sound of heavy breathing and faint sobs. She carefully walked towards the sound to meet a short redhead, she was breathing heavily, about to cry.
Y/n walked towards her, "Babe are you alright?", she asked, only for the girl to start sobbing. Without a hesitation, Y/n could only hug her, slowly stoking her hair as the girl cried her heart out. That's when she recognized her, "I know you, you're Billy's little sister right?", the redhead stayed silent, nodding. "Alright babe, I don't know what's the matter with you but how about you come over, I get you something to eat or drink and you can tell me what's the matter. Sounds good to you?". Once again the girl nodded.
"I'm Y/n" she softly introduced herself. "Max", the girl quietly said between sobs. "Let's go Max, we'll have ice cream if you want".
The two walked home hand in hand. At that moment Max felt happy, she didn't know Y/n at all, though she did see her perform a few times but never got to see her up close. Still, she instantly felt close to her, like the big sister she never had but always needed.
Once they finally got to Y/n's house. Max sat down while Y/n was putting away everything she bought. She finally finished cleaning up and got both of them a huge tub of ice cream and two spoons. She sat next to Max on the couch, who finally had the occasion to vent. So she did, about everything going on, how much of an asshole Billy has been, school, friends, just life in general. It felt great, like a weight was lifted off her shoulders.
The both continued eating the ice cream while Y/n was giving her new little sister some advice. Though Y/n wasn't really role model material, she was more wise and mature than she looked, having a bunch of lessons and advice that she could've taught her little sister, but she never did, cause she never had one. Y/n grew up an only child, lonely, but she was happier that way, she didn't want her parents to fuck up one more child.
Without knowing it, these two were beginning to form an unbreakable bond.
Then, they started talking about random things. Y/n told her a bit about herself, her passion for music, her inspiration. The two of them were really comfortable with each other, like sisters.
Time passed faster than usual when they were together. It was now getting late and Max should go home. They both stood up, Y/n offering to take her home. They were about to leave when they heard a bang on the door. It was... you guessed it! Billy! Again!
Y/n was wondering why he would come twice, in two days, plus he never usually came this early. She opened the door to him looking lost and out of breath. "Y/n, you're my last resort right now. Have you seen my sister, she's about this tall, redhead, very stubborn, kind of annoying, always has a skateboard, she goes by Max. We had an argument and she disappeared." Y/n simply nodded.
"She was with me, I was about to take her home actually". When he heard this, his gaze changed. He was now mad, again. "Max get in the car. Now!". Max obeyed, not wanting to have any more problems. He now turned to Y/n, ready to cuss her out again. As much as she liked Billy, his attitude the past few days has been annoying her and she was starting to see a side of him that she didn't like. She looked at him annoyed while he was ranting.
"My 13 years old little sister disappears for an entire day and I find her with you, in your house, and you didn't tell me? I sure as shit hope she's sober because if you gave her anything I swear to God I will-" he was interrupted by her. "She's good, all she had was ice cream and some water while she was over, I would never give anything to a kid. Also, if you didn't want her to disappear like that, maybe start trying to become a better person."
She said coldly, with no emotion on her face, he was shocked to say the least, Y/n was never like that, ever, how could she be so cool and confident and indifferent to him. It was as if she turned into a different person.
"What the hell is wrong with you Y/n?" He genuinely asked. She simply shrugged, "I'm starting to like you less, that's all." She pushed him aside and walked to his car, saying bye to Max, "You're welcome here anytime babe, if your brother does anything to you, just know I'll always be there, even if you show up at 3 am, we can have ice cream and bitch about him together" both of them laughed and high fived goodbye.
Y/n walked back into her house and before closing the door said, "Stop being such an asshole to people Billy, you could be liked if you wanted to".
She closed the door behind him, ate, did her night routine and went to sleep. Billy and Max went home, he went right to bed but he didn't sleep yet. He couldn't stop thinking about her, for the first time since they've known each other, Y/n wasn't this insecure submissive girl he knew. She was different, cold and sharp. He liked it, more than he wanted to admit.
He put his hand on his chest, feeling his heart beat. He was starting to like her.
