I didn't know how long I was out for but when I came to, the moon had moved west across the sky. My head was throbbing, I reached up and felt the bump when I looked back at my hand it was covered with blood. I forced myself to sit up, the pain rushing into my eyes and making me feel nauseated my whole body ached. I wanted to lay back down desperately but my fingers had gone numb and the cold had seeped into my bones adding to my pain.

"Serenity!?" I called out, but there was no response, I scrambled around looking for my wand and found it only a few feet away, "Lumos" I said and my wand lit up, illuminating my surroundings. I struggled to my feet using a tree for support and shined my wand around. I saw Serenity's body laying a few feet away from me, I ran towards her forgetting my pain and the screaming of my body.

"Oh my God! Serenity!" I shook her gently, but she made no sound, her eyes were closed and her breathing was shallow. "Fuck! Fuck! Fuck!" I tried picking her up but I couldn't, I could barely hold up my own. I fell to my knees beside her and remembered how we got into this situation. The red sparks.

I pointed my wand up at the sky "Periculum!" I screamed a burst of red sparks went up through the trees and into the clear sky. I sent up two more bursts of red and waited, the minutes droning by. I realized that wherever we had ended up was further from Hogwarts than I assumed. I racked my brain for another solution, pain making my thought process hazy.

There was only one choice, the Patronus charm. I had only successfully managed it once, a long time ago. It was my only hope, I waved my wand thinking about some of my happiest memories, of me and the girls, our adventures and laughing together.

"Expecto Patronum!" I called out, a thin silver mist came out but faded quickly becoming one with the darkness. I felt my chest grow heavy, were we stuck out here? The pain was becoming unbearable, I was losing what little strength I had left. I had to try again.

I closed my eyes and thought once more about my memories with the girls, but this time I thought about Snape, our dance at the Ball, sleeping next to him. I felt my heart swell "EXPECTO PATRONUM!" I screamed at the top of my lungs. A large blue and silver wolf came bounding out from the tip of my wand, I collapsed to the ground and looked at my Patrouns.

"Go, find someone, lead them here please" The wolf disappeared into the trees, I laid down on the ground next to Serenity pulling her close to me in an attempt to keep us both warm. Someone would come soon, we were going to be okay.

**TIMESKIP**

Rustling from somewhere beyond the trees stirred me, I had been in and out of consciousness and had no perception of time. I forced myself to sit up and saw my wolf returning with someone following close behind. It leapt into the shallow clearing we were in and disappeared into a mist of silver. The light of someone's wand came closer and I realized it was Severus.

"What in Merlin's name?" He asked.

"Severus, you have to help her," I said, pointing to Serenity's unconscious body. He gave me a look and went over to Serenity to pick her up. He looked very angry.

"Can you walk?"

I nodded at him and pulled myself up, wobbling from the pain in my head. I followed him through the dense forest, holding onto his cloak so I wouldn't collapse again. We walked back to the castle in silence, him giving me glares of anger every so often.

When we reached the castle McGonagall was waiting in the entrance hall.

"My goodness! What happened!?" She asked worriedly.

"Your guess is as good as mine Minerva" Snape replied lowly "Escort Bane to my office while I bring Miss Hart to the hospital wing"

McGonagall looked at Snape with a troubled expression then back at me, "Severus, I think she needs medical attention aswell."
