The walk back to Severus' classroom was silent. I was thinking a million different things as we walked briskly through the corridors. Looking at each angle of the situation and overthinking it; until every possibility had been examined and exhausted.

As we neared the tall ominous door to his classroom, Severus turned to face me, pausing in front of the heavy oak.

"Sometimes I forget that you're indeed an adult and not a child," Severus said, opening the door and allowing me to go first.

"And what makes you say that, hm?" I asked.

I walked towards another door and entered the musty-smelling office. The desk - was littered with parchments and empty ink bottles. The jars of putrid potion ingredients - were nestled on laden shelves; they had collected another inch or so of dust.

Severus walked around the desk and sat down; he began fidgeting with his quill as he chose his following words carefully.

"You reacted emotionally and not... Logically"

"I think it was quite a valid reason to react emotionally, Severus."

Severus looked up at me with an intense gaze, "What you seem not to understand is everyone has secrets, and they are under no obligation to share them with you."

"I think this situation is a bit different; it's not like she's a Death Eater," I was growing frustrated that Severus didn't understand my side. His brows furrowed at me and his lips became a thin line.

"I'm astounded that even after all this time, you were incapable of putting two and two together; Miss Hart was the one to tell you I was a Ligilimens, was she not?"

I nodded, unsure what to say; Severus had backed me into a corner with that statement.

"Do you think I would have willingly given up that information?" Severus pressed further.

"No," I mumbled; Severus gave me a "well then?"  look and turned his attention back to organizing the plethora of parchments on his desk. Our conversation was over, the confessions and sweet nothings of last night forgotten.

Did he actually mean any of it?

"Severus..."  I began, but he interrupted before I could finish my sentence.

"Yes, I meant everything I said," He sighed, "I'm exasperated from this morning, and I have a lot of work to do before term resumes."

I nodded and turned to leave his office, "my trunk," I said softly, my hand pausing on the door handle.

"I'll bring it later in the day," Severus answered, not breaking his focus away from the parchment he was writing on.

I left his office and walked across the classroom to the door that led back into the cold stone hallways of the dungeons. I began walking without a set destination, merely venturing aimlessly through the castle. I was bitter at Severus' coldness and torn up over Kara's secret.

I snapped out of my trance when I realized my feet had brought me to the Great Hall. I stood outside, hesitating, listening to the meagre chatter of students. I decided to skip breakfast and resumed walking.

"Good morning, Juniper!" I stopped to face the overly cheery voice, Professor Lupin.

"Morning, Professor," I said back in a drawl.

Lupin looked in better spirits than the last time I had seen him. A small cabinet that resembled a bedside table, except instead of drawers, it had a small door with a brass handle; that floated to the right of him.
