(tris)
sirens. lots and lots of sirens.
sounds of loud ringing fill my ears and the room around us.
eric shoots up out of his seat.
"what's going on?" i ask, nervously.
"come with me, now" eric says, very sternly with hints of fear in his eyes.
i follow eric down a dark corridor past the chasm filled with the rushing water.
"whatever you do..." he says calmly, "do NOT leave my side."
i nod as we continue down the corridor and exit the dauntless building.
we are still several stories high at our point of exit, which i think was the point.
there is fire, lots of it.
"what happened?" i ask.
"factionless, they must have started a fire that grew out of control."
the whole city is engulfed in bright, red flames.
the flames search up each building and take their walls down as it spreads.
"what are we going to do?"
"you're going to get to safety. don't get involved, please" eric says.
i can tell he doesn't want me to get hurt.
after all, i'm just a new recruit, and he's been here for several years now... i think.
i rush back into the dauntless compound.
as i maneuver my way through tons of terrified people rushing to save the city with hoses and buckets, i run into four.
my head smacks into his chest and i'm knocked onto the cool, cement floor.
"tris. what are you doing?" he asks.
"trying to get to safety, eric wanted me to be safe."
"well, change of plans. you're coming with me."
"i- okay..." i stutter.
four runs through the crowd and down several flights of stairs, i follow.
he's easy to find, i continue to spot him because of the tattoo he has creeping up the back of his neck.
it makes him noticeable, i wonder what the tattoo is of.
it almost looks like flames, like the ones that are engulfing the city.
"come on!" he yells.
i'm slow, and he knows it. why does he need my help anyway?
we reach what appears to be the basement, and i frown.
there's not any supplies down here that could help us.
"what are we doing down here?" i frown again.
"you'll see," four says, too calmly.
he reaches a control panel, and flips its lid open.
there are tons of controls, each being labeled with a different thing.
"now... we just have to decide which one will cut the power to the city. we can't risk the fire growing even more."
i frown, "there's no way we can do this."
"well, not from here. we'll have to go into the city." four sighs and flips the control panel lid closed again.
"into... the city? but, it's on fire."
