James stared at the always moving stairs and then turned to his friends in disbelief, "I can't walk up that!"

"I'm sure you'll be fine, Prongs," Sirius said with a smile as James groaned.

"You guys had to help me walk here! It's obvious I can't walk up those myself," James exclaimed. Sirius just shrugged as James scowled at him.

"He's right, though," Peter cut in, frowning at Sirius.

"I can help you, here," Remus stepped forwards and hooked an arm around James' shoulders, who grinned at him gratefully as it was now Sirius' turn to scowl.

"Thanks, Moony," James told him as they went towards the portrait, Sirius and Peter trailing after them. The woman in the portrait raised an eyebrow,

"Is he okay? He looks like he's about to fall any second," she added, nodding towards James.

"Well-"

"He dislocated both his ankles, but he should be fine," Sirius interrupted Remus casually, making Remus turn to him with a glare before turning back to the portrait. Everyone knew Sirius was probably still a little bit angry that James had brought up Regulus, so he was being annoying just to make James mad.

"Pepper Imps," Peter told the portrait, not liking the way James was looking at Sirius. The portrait swung open and the four boys climbed inside, Remus having to help James get inside.

"When should we put the mistletoe up?" Peter asked as he pulled homework out of his bag, turning to Remus hopefully. Remus shook his head firmly and plopped down on the couch, sitting next to Sirius.

"Maybe a week before Christmas, I think that's when people usually start to decorate," James replied, grabbing a pillow and tossing it to Remus, who caught it just in time and laid down on it.

"Do we put it on every doorway?" Sirius asked as he snatched the pillow Remus was laying on and laid on it, making Remus glare at him once again.

"Sure," Peter mumbled as he dug around in his bag for an ink pot and quill.

"Probably not, because people are gonna be kissing right and left," James laughed, grabbing another pillow and throwing it to Remus, who caught it and smiled thankfully.

Sirius smirked, "Right,"

"I need to start getting gifts, anyways, I haven't started yet," James said as he played with his wand, harmless sparks shooting out of it every now and then. He wondered if he should get something for Regulus.

"Me too," Remus agreed.

"I've already gotten mine, I think you'll really like yours, Moony," Sirius told him, taking out a golden snitch from deep inside his pocket and letting it fly around, watching it speedily move from left to right.

"I hope I do," Remus responded, closing his eyes as though he was about to take a nap. Sirius threw his pillow at him and then Remus suddenly snapped his eyes open and barely caught it, frowning.

"I knew you'd do that," Remus scowled as Sirius smirked at him. "I'm trying to sleep!"

"Right, sorry, Moony," Sirius apologized, jumping up and grabbing the snitch and then stuffing it deep into his pockets. The snitch wasn't exactly quiet, and he didn't want Remus to be bothered during his nap.

"I'm gonna ask Evans to Slughorn's Christmas party," James continued, sounding confident; Peter had to raise an eyebrow. He didn't think Lily would want to go with him, because all she's ever called him is rude, cruel, and a prat.

"She's going to say yes this time, I'm sure of it!" Sirius grinned at James, who grinned back. He decided that being rude to his best mate was making him feel guilty and so he stopped.
