Chapter 6- Foundation Day

[Time skip: On the way to the restaurant]

It was 8:30 pm right now. I finished my work and left early today as I agreed to have dinner with Young-so. It'll be good to catch up with my university friend after so many years. "Don't stay out for too late and if it gets too late give me a call and I'll pick you up" team leader kept reminding me this till I got off work. After walking for a few minutes, I spotted the restaurant I was supposed to go to. I fixed my overcoat and put my hands in my pocket to warm them when my eyes landed on a lady coming out of the restaurant and I knew who it was

"Yura!" I said and waved towards her. It took her a minute to recognize me but she eventually did and waved back at me. She ran toward me and engulfed me in a warm hug

"Y/n! It's been so long! How are you!? Oh my god, I can't believe it!" She completely shocked

"It's been around 5 years!" I said 

"I know! I never thought I'd meet you out here!" She said

"Even I didn't expect this but what are you doing here?" I asked and I could see a change in her expression

"I was here on a blind date and I'm going back home now" She replied

"But why do you sound so sad? Is everything okay?" I asked quiet concerned 

"My blind date was a senior from our university by the name of Choi Haneul, initially everything was going okay but out of nowhere he proposed me and asked me to date him but when I told him this is just the first time we are meeting he started to force me so I just left" She explained

"You just left?"

"Fine! I splashed water on his face and I left but why are you here?" She said and we started laughing

"Right! I'm here to attend a dinner and I'm already late. Yura, let's talk later!" I said as she nodded. After exchanging numbers, I went in the restaurant and met the Young-so. We talked about a lot of things about our life after university. The dinner went on smoothly and it felt good to meet my university friends after so long

[Time skip: Next week; Foundation day]

The hall was packed with guests and employees from our company and other companies as well. Team 2 received a lot of appreciation for the decorations, choice of food items and organizing the event without any mistake. Joon-woo went to the food counter to try some of his favorite macrons while Seol-A sunbae and I stood among the group of people and making sure everything was done properly

"Y/n, I love your dress" Seol-A sunbae whispered in my ears talking about the white knee-length bodycon dress that I had saved just for this day! It had beads and lace decorations on it. 

"Thank you sunbae!" I whispered 

"But if someone saw you and team leader together they'd think you both are a couple judging from the matching colored outfits you both wore" She whispered again pointing at team leader who was with the president dressed in a white suit. My cheeks caught a slight tint of blush at her words 

"Sunbae!" I whined making her chuckle

"Seol-A sunbae, I need a little of your help about the decorations" Joon-woo said coming toward us

"Sure. Y/n, I'll be right back" She said making me nod before leaving with Joon-woo

I grabbed a glass of champagne from the table and took a sip of it while I stood against a pillar waiting for Seol-A sunbae or Joon-woo to come back. My eyes landed on team leader who was still talking with the president. I didn't realize it but I was starring at him.

"Something is wrong with me... Why do I find team leader so strikingly handsome all of a sudden? Has he always been this handsome?" I mumbled as I shook my head and when I looked at him again, he was already looking at me. He excused himself and started walking toward me as I looked away. 

"Ms. Y/n, your piercing gaze almost made a hole in my face" He teased me

"I wasn't starring!"

"I never said you were" 

"Whatever!" I replied looking away making chuckle. The rest of the event went on smoothly, the guests and the employees enjoyed themselves. The presidents personally liked the pottery and the vintage theme which we chose. I could say one thing... this was definitely a success! It was 11:15 pm by now and the event was almost over except for a few guests, the president, chairman and some employees, almost everyone went home. While I was helping helping Joon-woo making a note of everything, team leader walked to me. 

"Ms. Y/n, let's go. It's past 11 pm" He said grabbing my hand and we were about to leave but I stopped

"Wait, where do we have to go this late team leader?" I questioned

"I'm going to drop you home" He said but I stopped him again

"Wait! The president, chairman and everyone are still here! How can you just leave like this?!" I said

"I'm not letting you go alone and you know that"

[Time skip: 11:45 pm]

The moment we entered my neighborhood, we saw many police officers on patrol. I rolled down the window of the car letting the cold air in. There was a suffocating silence in the entire neighborhood. Previously at this time, people would still be out, laughing, talking and enjoying themselves but everything changed ever since the murder that took place. After few minutes, the car stopped in front of my house.

"Thank you for the ride, team leader!" I said getting off the car 

"Go in safely and don't trip on your way inside considering the size of your heels" He said

"I won't!" I replied and was about to go inside but he stopped me 

"Ms. Y/n, today... during the event... my eyes always went on you... you stood out the most" He said and my heartbeat fastened a bit but I took a deep breathe and it seemed to calm down.

"You could've just said I looked pretty team leader" I mumbled making him chuckle

"Go in now, I'm leaving" He said as he drove off. I watched him leave and was about to leave when I felt something weird. Among the silence in the neighborhood, I could hear the clicking of heals... as if someone was running while wearing heals. I went after the sound and after a few minutes, the sound was quiet clear. I realized I was by an alley but when I looked inside the alley, my eyes widened as I covered my mouth in shock

A girl laid on the floor and a man dressed completely in black stood in front of her with a hammer in his hand which had a few drops of blood. It was him.... the murderer-r. I looked at the girl and my heart dropped when I realized who it was

"Yura-a" I breathed out which drew the attention of him. Without thinking twice, I started running. I didn't look behind but I could hear him chasing me from behind. Before I could yell, I fell something hit my head making me fall down. I laid down on the cold streets, and felt blood flowing down my forehead. My eyelids grew heavier as I felt myself loosing consciousness 

"Y/n!" was the last thing I heard before everything blacked out
