"I....like... Lee....Y/n"
I covered my face with the blankets and shook my head every time I thought about what he said. A part of me was refusing to believe what happened thinking he might have blabbered something nonsense but a part of me was happy after remembering what he had said to me, "When I am asleep and someone asks me something, I always say the truth"
I squealed under the blanket and flapped my legs in what? Excitement or refusing to accept the fact that... team leader may actually like me? I sat straight up on the bed and tapped my cheeks. I couldn't sleep a bit after that incident. My thoughts were interrupted when I heard a knock on my door making me startle a little.
"Ms. Y/n?" It was him. He called me out in his deep, raspy voice and my heartbeat fastened.
"Yes-s"
"I see you are awake. Once you are ready, you can come out for breakfast. Do you prefer fried or scrambled eggs?" He questioned
"Fried-d eggs" I replied as I heard him chuckle
"That's pretty unhealthy Ms. Y/n but I won't judge your taste. Come for breakfast once you are ready" He said and I could hear the sound of retreating footsteps and my heart slowly calmed down. I got off the bed and freshened up. I directly changed into my work attire as I planned to go to work straight from here and return back home in the evening. Even though my brothers were like, "YOU STILL WANT TO BE WITH YOUR TEAM LEADER EVEN THOUGH WE'LL RETURN BACK HOME IN THE MORNING-" anyways, let me mentally prepare myself cause I will be facing team leader right now.
I slowly twisted the door knob and came out of the room. I found team leader in his work attire but he wasn't wearing his complete suit instead there was an apron on him as he served the breakfast on the table. He noticed me and passed me a smile and I smiled back.
"Have a seat" He said making me nod. I took a seat and he sat opposite to me. In front of me, there were fried eggs, some vegetables, and a cup of warm coffee. I checked my phone and realized that it was already December 21. So many things that have happened in the past few weeks made me my track on time. Now that I think of it, the temperature had dropped to 12 degrees.
"Eat your breakfast or we'll be late for the office" I heard him say making me nod. I quietly had my breakfast while he scrolled his phone as he took a sip of his coffee.
"Did you have a good sleep, Ms. Y/n?" He asked
"Yes, I did" No, I did not. How does he expect me to have a good sleep after what he said to me last night?! And once again, there was nothing but silence between us but this time, it was me who broke the silence.
"Team leader?" I called out
"Hmm" He hummed in response
"Do you... remember... what happened last night?" I asked hesitantly
"Last night? I remember I fell asleep... why... did you need some kind of help?" He questioned. As I thought... he doesn't remember.
"No, nothing," I said and continued eating.
Will someone believe me if I tell them that my direct supervisor confessed to me when he was asleep? No! Because I myself I can't believe unless he knows someone else with the same name as me. But that isn't the thing I should be worried about right now. I should think about how to face him from now on... No, I should think about how to answer him if he ever tells me this when he is not asleep because... I don't want to reject him.
[Time skip: IREN & co.]
Team leader walked inside the building while I followed him behind. I'm sure the news had already spread like wildfire among the employees which said, "The team leader of team 2 came in the office along with one of his team members. They were spotted together in the car"
The elevator dinged and stopped on the 24th floor and we got off the elevator. Team leader walked into his cabin while I went to team 2's room. I opened the door and entered the room to come across Seol-A sunbae and Joon-woo.
"Y/n, you are okay right?"
"Yes, I am. A good night's sleep was what I needed and I am ready to work!" I said in excitement
"YES!" Joon-woo yelled in excitement as he dropped the pen stand on the table by mistake which created a loud noise. I flinched at the noise and gripped tightly onto my coat. I remembered the noise made by the hammer which the killer held and my hands shook in fear. My heart started beating fast due to the fear but just then the door opened and my heart seemed to calm down when I saw the person on the door
"What's with the commotion?" It was team leader
"Team leader! Joon-woo dropped the pen stand so he was picking it up" Seol-A sunbae explained pointing at Joon-woo who was collecting the pens that had rolled off on the floor
"Alright. Ms. Y/n, could you follow me out? I have something to talk about regarding our new product" He said as I nodded and followed him outside. He kept walking and I followed him till we were in front of his cabin. We walked inside his cabin and he stopped in front of me. He turned around and when I thought that he was about to scold me for some unknown mistake I committed, I was wrong. Instead, he looked at me with a comforting gaze.
"Ms. Y/n... are you okay?" He asked and he was the only one who asked me this
"I am okay-y, team leader-r! What can-n possibly happen to me-e?" I replied
Instead of saying anything more, his hands reached out to me and he pulled me towards him causing me to bump into his chest. He wrapped his arms around me and I could hear his heartbeat. He was nervous. My hand which was gripping onto my coat, slowly let go of it because I felt safe... I felt safe around him.
"You can lie to others... but not me," He said. Tears welled up in my eyes which slowly rolled down my eyes
"Team leader-r... what do I-I do? No matter-r... how hard I try-y... I can't think-k of anything else-e... It scare-s me so-o much"
"It's okay to be scared sometimes rather than pretending that you are okay... Don't worry... you are safe around me"
