Chapter 9- Colors of rainbow

"You are wrong detective Na... I did not choose to save Ms. Y/n over chasing the killer... she was always my first choice. I would've always chosen her over anything and she is not just a mere subordinate for me... she is someone precious to me... something that you would never understand... Detective Na Jaemin," After what team leader said, Detective Na left the room but before leaving, he turned towards me and said,

"Ms. Lee, don't be alone at any point of time and... and try to stay close to Mr. Jeong as much as possible... I'm sure he won't let anything happen to you," I looked over at team leader who had a cold gaze but this time his eyes weren't just cold, they showed another emotion... and that was anger

The sliding door of the cabin opened revealing brother Taeyong and Mark

"Y/n, we'll get some medicines and food for you to eat. Team leader Jeong, till then could you stay with Y/n?" Brother Taeyong

"Brother! He has to work and-" team leader cut me off by saying

"Sure, I'll be with her" Nodding at his statement, brother Taeyong and Mark left, closing the door

"Team leader! Why did you agree?! You must have so much work at the company" I said

"But you are more important than those" He mumbled something which I couldn't hear

"Huh?"

"I meant, I have Seol-A and Joon-woo for that. Also, they are going to visit you in the evening after their work is done so don't fall asleep then" He said 

"Team leader, when did I fall asleep in the evening?" I questioned narrowing my eyes. A small smile formed on his face and it seemed as if he was trying to control his laughter as he took a seat on the bed next to me.

"I guess it was.... two years ago... the meeting with the board members where you were almost about to-" I cut him off by putting my hand on his mouth as I immediately knew what he was trying to say. He looked at me with wide eyes which soon turned into a calm gaze. His hands reached for mine, and gently holding it, he removed my hand which was covering his mouth

"Ms. Y/n, you told the detective everything but you forgot one thing," He said 

"What did I forget?"

"That you were scared. You forgot to tell him that you were scared. You thought maybe the burying the fright deep in your mind, you can forget about it but did you forget I've known you for the past four years and I can easily read your expressions?" He said and he was not wrong. I had never been this scared but the other emotions that I felt simultaneously seemed to have suppressed the feeling of fright somewhere. 

Seeing my reaction, with a small smile formed on his lips, he said,

"Ms. Y/n, do you know all the colors of a rainbow?" 

"Who doesn't? It's violet, indigo, blue, green, yellow, orange, red" I replied 

 "Good and can you say the name of the colors in the reverse order?" He said as I looked at him quite confused

"Red... orange... yellow... green.... blue... indigo.... violet," I said

"That's right. Now the next time, whenever you are scared, start saying the names of the colors of the rainbow in the reverse order, and by the time you finish saying it, I will be there to help you. Trust me, it has always worked for me and I'm sure it'll work for you as well" He said

"Why? Were you also scared?" I questioned 

'Dad! Noona! Wake up-p... why aren't-t you waking up-p?'

"Yes, I was scared and my mother taught me this, and by the time I finished saying the name of all the colors...."

'Hyung! Run-n fast-t or... he'll-l get us!'

"... someone was there to help me and get me out of the fright"

[Time skip: Evening]

".... Seol-A sunbae! Joon-woo! I'll miss you both so much!" I said hugging them

"Y/n, we'll miss you too but for now, get well soon!" Seol-A said encouraging me

"Y/n sunbae, you are my role model now! You are such a strong woman!" Joon-woo said

"Thank you guys," I said as I bid them farewell. Brother Taeyong was called at the reception while Mark lay on the couch, taking a nap. My eyes went to team leader who was sitting on a chair by the window while reading a book. 'Stephen Hawking's the theory of everything' was the name of the book and I still don't know where he found that book but the title itself was terrifying. The table next to me was filled with flowers and cookies that Seol-A and Joon-woo had brought.  Just when I was about to reach out for one cookie, the door opened revealing Young-so 

"Young-so!" I said drawing team leader's attention

"Y/n! I'm sorry I'm late in visiting you. I was busy with the property registration and things" He said keeping the flowers and a bag of cookies on the table. 

"Ah right! Y/n, I heard there was another victim too. What was her name again... Kim... Kim.."

"Kim Yura" I completed his sentence

"Right! Wasn't she the captain of the cheerleading squad of our university?" He asked making me nod at his statement 

"How is she now?"

"She is in coma right now. The doctors kept her under observation in the ICU and the police are guarding her cabin. I hope she wakes up soon so we can catch the killer" I said

"Right! She must really want to live right? Cause even after being injured so severely, she still managed to survive" Young-so said making me nod. Our attention was drawn when we heard a knock on the door. The door slid open and a nurse entered the room with a bouquet in her hand.

"Ms. Y/n, there's a delivery for you," the nurse said 

"Who sent it?" Team leader enquired

"Someone named... Choi Haneul" The nurse said. That's when a thought struck my mind.

"Choi Haneul? Choi Haneul? Choi..... Haneul... I've heard that name somewhere" I whispered

"Ms. Y/n"

'My blind date was a senior from our university by the name of Choi Haneul... initially, everything was going okay but out of nowhere, he proposed to me and asked me to date him but when I told him this is the first time we are meeting, he started to force me so I just left'

I gasped as I remembered where had I heard that name 

"Yura" I breathed out

"Ms. Y/n, what's wrong?" Team leader asked with concern 

"There's also a note which says..." the bouquet dropped from her hand as she took steps backward until her back hit the wall. Among the flowers was a note. Team leader knew something was wrong so he walked toward the fallen bouquet and picked up the note

'You bitch... you ruined everything... Just wait... I'll come for you soon'  Was what the note said as tears welled up in my eyes. A drop of tear rolled down my cheek as I looked at team leader who had a scared expression on his face

"Team leader-r.... am I goin-g to die-e?" Without saying anything, he came towards me and engulfed me in a hug and gently caressed my hair

"No-o... you won't die-e... I won't let-t you die"
