<3. alleyways

she could feel the fear rushing back to her, pounding in her heart, the pressure she should've felt a few moments ago right before jumping out of the window, but for some reason, her shock was coursing through the tips of her fingers and every step she took felt a brick tied to her foot and it didn't help too much that she was supposed to be running.

muggy perspiration sticks to her overheating flesh, fingers dragging into the male beside her figure, her backpack around mitsuya's back while it smacks him at every jump of his run, his eyes unwaveringly scanning her fatigued body before they glance back behind them, the faint reminiscence of the window striking the harsh glare of the sun, the only light in the darkened passageway that curved at the corners.

"hey 'tsuya isn't it surprising that we haven't run into those..."zombies"

he scopes the place around him, a louring alleyway with, a murky stench that coats the area in a rottenish perfume, the alleyway leading back to the school through the back, a maze of some sorts found by his friends and him, like an underground sewage system that underneath the ground and he couldn't help brood about if he was doing the right thing, like going back to one of the many places that nesting with anthropophagic behavior that was sure to meet their fate.

he thinks for a bit before answering, hand losing its grip in a way of letting his guard down, honestly a huge mistake on his part.

"uh yeah, but-"

snarls emit from the wildness around them, as she inhales a sharp intake of breath that leaves her lungs to spasm for air, oxygen that she didn't really care for right now, her pupils dilating with a cutting interest in the nature around them, while the "all-star" wording on the back of her shoe glissades against the white soles of mitsuya's sneakers, slightly bringing the fabric of her shoe down, the rubber bottom grazing her achilles heel.

it's like we're in a movie

"stay near me"

she nods, as his fingers squirm up her hand to her arm, her heat radiating off of her into his cold skin, hand wrapped around in his while his arm twists around hers, pulling her to his side, his hip flush against her's, both slowly walking away the other direction, fortunately for them was the opposite way they came from.

oncoming thunders of steps shake the ground in terror, vibrations running under their feet like little snakes, slithering away from the sound.

"shouldn't we start running?" (y/n) whispers, taking note on the way that mitsuya held her close, a little bashful at the tight hold on her.

"they're not too near us, we'll waste our energy running and i don't want to attract them, they're pretty fast, and i'd rather not bump into another zombie while carelessly running"

she lets a little hum, lightening her steps like a feather as her eyes roll to the side, glancing back at her shoulder every few seconds, a quiet silence blanketing their whispers except for the groans and snarls that cried behind them, both agreeing that there was probably a horde of zombies that were trailing them and it would best to take it slow.

...

"mitsuya, did anyone get.. hurt while i wasn't there?"

she was wanting to ask that question for a while, finding the moment the correct time to do so, while her throat burns with a curiosity-no scratch that with fear and desperation of the horrors of one of her dearest friends turning into a man-eating cannibal, oh no there's no way she could imagine that, glimpses of tears peeking through her lashes in an expectation, maybe even hope as she stares at the male beside her, his empathetic eyes peeping down, lips opened to let out a sigh.
