September 2026   London   Sixth year of the end of the Great Purge

It was near autumn, the temperature was slipping in the autumn breeze. it is rather chilly to be out at night.

John was walking down the street in a hurry, having just received a call that an elderly woman suffered a fall at home and was now found to be in urgent need of heart bypass surgery.

John was an excellent cardiac surgeon and the Centre relies on him for all cardiac operations, large and small, as he fills the gap in the cardiac department.

John never turns away a patient and always tries his best to help those who was in need.

The operation lasted until midnight, the family were extremely grateful for Dr Watson's assistance as the old woman was now safe and sound.

John loves those moment, it had always made him feel happy to know that he was needed.

John considered himself lucky to still be able to feel happiness.

On the way home, John's right leg ached so badly that he could barely lift it.

Wincing as he rubbed his disobedient leg, John grimaced at the thought that at only being 31 years old, his body was weakening like a 70 year old man.

On top of his broken leg, John also had two broken ribs and a permanent scar on his left shoulder from a puncture with a screwdriver. His stomach has been completely destroyed by a heavy dose of pepper spray.

What was once athletic and agile has now become a crippled mess.

After resting for a while, John struggled to get up and went to bathe.

Lying down on the bed, he found it hard to sleep despite his exhaustion. Now with his will loosen, the memories that had been buried for so long were coming back to haunt him.

John was the last of his friend to be caught and thrown into the remote prison of Sussex.

There, to his astonishment, he found the DI, whom he hadn't seen since that night.

The DI looked much older, his hair had turned from a handsome silver to completely white, his face so scarred that he barely looked his age.

John was surprised to find that Anderson and Mike were there too.

Greg told John that Anthea and Sally were being held in the women's prison.

By that time, they had been out of contact with the Holmes brothers for six months.

The two had been on the run for over two months until the detective was finally taken away. Even with his unparalleled intelligence, the detective was not able to escape the brutal pursuit. In a last-ditch ploy, he let John get off alone and was arrested himself.

But it was clear that the team wanted to destroy the Holmes brothers completely, and John was made a Class A wanted man.

John was on the run for over four months on his own, relying on his military skills.

But in the end, it was all for nothing.

At first, life in prison wasn't too bad, as the head guard was a fellow officer who Greg had worked with a few times. He was very sympathetic to Greg's plight and admired him as a person, so he provided them with a lot of facilities in secret.

This also gave them the opportunity to communicate with the women's prison.

Three weeks after John's imprisonment, Anthea delivered the news.
