Brambleberry was panicking. He couldn't find Hawkwing anywhere. He darted around camp, searching for her, occasionally fighting some intruders that got in his way. He crashed into Blazefang and snarled angrily at the tom, who glanced at him and got out of the way. His eyes were darting around, still searching for the light brown pelt he could recognize anywhere. Then the idea hit him.
Maybe Hawkwing hadn't come back from clearing her head.
Relief surged through him before it turned back into icy fear. What if she had been attacked while she was taking a walk?! His paws started clawing at the ground and soon he was sprinting towards the camp entrance. He needed to find Hawkwing. He needed to protect her. As he sprinted out of camp, he spotted two figures by the water in the dim light of the moon. He almost crashed into one of them and prepared for another fight.
Until the scent of Hawkwing flooded over him and he stopped abruptly and relief once again flooded over him. He had almost knocked the smaller cat over!
"Hawkwing! Thank Starclan you're alright! Don't you ever do that again! You had me worried sick! I thought you were in danger." He sighed as he stared at her with affectionate amber eyes.he glanced over her shoulder and froze, eyes widening as he examined the second cat, who was hacking up water.
It was the black tom with white spots that Brambleberry saw multiple times staring at Hawkwing at gatherings!
"What is he doing here?!" Brambleberry hissed at Hawkwing, fur bristling and claws sliding out. Hawkwing glanced up from the tom and stared at him with wide emerald eyes.
"What's going on here? Are we being attacked?" She asked. Brambleberry nodded his head, but he was still staring at the Treeclan tom beside Hawkwing. Fernfeather stood up fully and stared with wide ice blue eyes behind Brambleberry.
"What's going on?!" He asked, looking at Brambleberry. The dark tabby tom growled at him and his claws digging into the ground.
"What does it matter to a Treeclan cat?!" He snarled at Fernfeather. The smaller tom narrowed his eyes at Brambleberry and the air thickened with tension. Hawkwing passed Brambleberry and slowly limped towards the camp. Fernfeather's eyes widened and he hurriedly sprinted after her before stopping in front of the Waterclan deputy, making her halt.
"Hawkwing, wait! You can't go in there! It's too dangerous! Especially in your condition!"He hissed with worry filling his eyes. Hawkwing opened her mouth to speak, but Brambleberry beat her to it.
"What are you talking about?! What condition?!" Brambleberry mewed, eyes staring at Hawkwing with concern. She hissed at both toms and passed Fernfeather, still heading towards camp.
"I'm not going to be engaging in battle. I need to get to the nursery!" She growled at them. Fernfeather sighed with relief and padded after her.
"Wait, what? Why do you need to go to the nursery?" Brambleberry asked her as he sprinted after her. Once he caught up he stared at her with confused amber eyes. Hawkwing glared at him and halted.
"Because, you fish-brain. I'm expecting." She hissed at him.
