Chapter 4

2:46 pm

"BELLA" an all too familiar voice yelled.

"Danny hi" I turned around from my locker, facing my friend.

"So you never answered my question yesterday..." He trailed off scratching the back of his neck.

"Which one?" I asked laughing a bit as I piled my textbooks from today's classes back in.

"Do you wanna maybe hang out after school today? Like frozen yogurt or something? Maybe"

"Um well Mi-" I was cut off by my best friends high pitched laugh.

"Oh my god Jack you're so funny" she squealed, causing me to abruptly turn my head in her direction. Where I saw a truly sickening sight.

Jack was strolling down the halls, Mia latched to his side, clawing at the loose fabric on his torso. His arm rested gently upon her shoulders, and his gaze directed to her.

Ok ow.

"You know what Danny yeah let's go!" I said smiling and slamming my locker shut. He took my hand leading me outside to his car where I spotted Mia and Jack again.

"Mia I'm going out!" I yelled at her quickly sliding back into the car before Danny sped off to the frozen yogurt place.

The date with Danny was boring. He was my friend I wasn't into him and he had an allergic reaction to the granola at the topping bar and I had to rush him to the hospital.

I hadn't heard from Mia or Jack since school which was a bit of a let down from both of them.

"Don't forget, tomorrow's Earth day" my computer buzzed through the room. Easy A was my all time favorite movie, and I really needed something to lift my spirits today.

Since it was still pretty light out I decided to go running, like I always do when I need to clear my mind.

I put on my black spandex shorts and a black sports bra with my black running shoes. I tied my hair up and grabbed my phone and headphones putting my music on shuffle and telling my mom where I was going before running towards the park.

Heartbeat by Childish Gambino started blasting through the speakers and a rush of adrenaline picked up my speed. I was working on my fourth mile when I got tackled to the ground. I was about to scream when I heard a familiar chuckle besides me. I ripped out my headphones and shoved Jack.

"JACK MY HEART STOPPED BEATING I HATE YOU" I yelled getting up and rubbing the gravel off my bruised knees.

"I'm sorry baby" Jack said pulling me in by my waist "you look great today" I smiled, thumb pads rubbing small circles on my hips, leaving a tingling pattern. I took his hands off my waist and continued running.

"Hey hey don't leave me alone! I'm bored" he pulled me back by my waist. My phone buzzed with a text from Nina.

Nina: hey :) are we still on for later? Mackenzie wants to come is that cool? Your house 8?

"Shit" I mumbled walking back towards my house.

"What's wrong Bells?" Jack frowned, his nickname causing my heart to drop to my stomach.

"Nothing just forgot I was hanging out with Nina in an hour and I'm not ready" I said responding to her text. I called my mom and told her that some friends were coming over but it turns out that her and dad were gonna be gone anyways. When I finally put my phone back in the side of my spandex I looked up to see Jack was walking with me.

"What are you still doing here?" I asked a bit rude.

"I wanted to come with you" Jack smiled a bit, "I hope it's ok I invited a few friends over too"

"Jack are you serious?!" I stopped walking and turned towards him.

"Chill out babe"

I took a deep breath and started sprinting back to my house. Getting in and locking the door behind me before checking the time. 7:45. shit.

I took a 5 minute shower and put on a white lace bandeau and white skinny jeans with a pair of white converse and a long grey cardigan. I brushed my hair out and left it down, until I heard the doorbell ring. I jogged downstairs and opened the door to Nina and Mackenzie's friendly faces.

"Hey guys" I hugged them both.

"We brought beer" Nina said holding up two cases, Mackenzie doing the same. They had come in and we were getting some speakers to take outside when the doorbell rung again. I opened it to see Jack and four other attractive boys from our school.

"Hey" Jack winked walking past me and into the house, two of them following, I think Kenny and Nate were their names. Jack and Sammy, I think, stayed by the door, Jack talked first.

"I apologize for Jacks douche like attitude. thanks for having us over you seem like a really nice girl I mean you know Mia so..." He scratched the back of his neck blushing vigorously.

"Thank you and it was no problem" I hugged him. He walked past me and into the house heading to the backyard.

"I'm Sam" he smirked leaning against the door frame.

"And I'm thirsty" I said turning around and grabbing a beer from the kitchen before making my way towards the backyard where everyone was doing their own thing. Nina was laying on a lounge chair, Nate and Kenny surrounding her. Johnson leaning against the beach house wall on his phone, and Jack and Mackenzie were by the covered hot tub talking.

Sam had come out by now and he looked a bit upset so I decided to lift his mood. I grabbed my speakers and played Cupid's Chokehold by GymClassHeros and I walked over towards him.

"Come dance with me" I laughed lightly dragging him to the grass area, letting my body go along with the music. My back faced his front and his hands were grasped tightly onto my waist, my ass against his hard on, my arms rested around his neck. I smiled as the song ended and I looked at Jack, catching his eye before looking back at Sam.

"Hope you're feeling better"
