Chapter 18

I couldn't breathe. My heart was pounding out of my chest as I turned my car around and sped off to the hospital. My vision was blurred but I managed to get to the parking lot safely. I grabbed my phone, wallet and keys and ran into the hospital. I ran into the lobby and looked around finally finding someone at the front desk.

"Jack Gilinsky please what room is he in?"

"He's in room 514, but Miss he's not allowed visitors he's not stable" My heart dropped to the pit of my stomach.

"May I please wait by his room?" my breathing was heavy.

"Yes, yes of course fifth floor"

I thanked her and turned around finding the elevator which was out of service, so I ran up five flights of stairs. There were doctors and nurses surrounding Jack and his room. They were mumbling things while working on him and I could do nothing but watch.

"Um excuse me Miss" I jolted awake. "Hi are you Bella Sanders?"

"Um yes is my friend up yet? His name is Jack Gilinsky"

"He's still asleep but the reason I've woken you up is because I wanted to know your relationship to him. You must be important you were his emergency contact."

"It's complicated. Can I go in please?"

"Of Course honey"

I stood up taking all my things and going into Jack's room. I set them down in a chair near is bed and walked over to the bed sitting down.

"Oh what happened to you?" I sighed stroking the side of his face,"My baby. I miss you so much. We weren't perfect but we were something Jack. You meant a lot to me, you still do. I loved you. I really did. And I didn't get to tell you that enough because I ruined everything and I'm sorry ok, I didn't mean to mess up but people make mistakes" I moved my hand away from his face and wiped my hand under my eye. I went to stand up realizing it was already 10:00.

"B-Bells" I heard Jack croak from the bed.

"Jack?" I turned back around to him. "Jack are you ok?" He groaned and opened his eyes.

"I'm in so much pain"

I let out a small laugh and went to go sit down next to him again, my hand taking its previous spot on his face," what happened?" A few tears had managed to escape as we were conversing.

"I wanted to find you. I was tired of being mad, but I didn't know where you were. You know these past few weeks I've been a mess. I can't do anything without you" he was able to move his hand up to meet mine. "I love you"

"I love you too" I leaned in and pressed my lips against his. The kiss tasted like salt from my tears, but all thoughts were thrown from my mind. My body was numb and my fingertips were tingling.

When I pulled away Jack has his hand rested on my neck above my hair. I didn't move too far away, mostly because he didn't let me.

"Please don't ever be mad at me again" I cried.

"Shhh baby I won't, I promise. Come here" he patted the spot next to him and when I got comfortable he wrapped his arms around me.

"Bella?" Someone whispered in my ear. "Bella come on sweetie wake up" the same voice beckoned. I groaned and turned over.

"What?" I whined.

"Bella the doctors need to do a full body examination on me so I can leave and you're sleeping on my left arm and leg" Jack chuckled.

I jolted up and fell out of the hospital bed apologizing repeatedly to the nurses for being in the way. I stood by and bit my nails as I watched them work on him. I kept asking if he was ok and at one point the doctors got so annoyed they kicked me out. When they finally came out they told me he was fine just a little banged up and could go home.

I went to the bathroom down the hall, washed my face and readjusted my hair. I made sure I had everything and then went to check Jack out. When I walked back into his room he was already dressed.

"This is you"

"Thanks I would've driven myself but you know my car is pretty wrecked" we both laughed but it was very brief and the car was once again filled with silence. We made eye contact and he leaned over, kissing me tenderly for what seemed like forever.

"So what does this make us?" I whispered when he pulled away.

"Complicated"

"That's what we were before"

"Baby can we talk tomorrow I'm still not feeling to hot"

"Yeah sure" I walked him into his house and upstairs to his room, kissing his forehead before taking off.

I woke up the next morning at 6:30 taking a shower, putting on some shorts and a black low cut t-shirt and leaving my hair curly. I drove to school without stopping for coffee and made my way up to the library.

I had done most of my homework when I got home from dropping Jack off but it was so late I could barely focus so I was doing it when I was interrupted by a familiar voice.

"I have a present for" Toby said placing an ice coffee in front of me. "I don't know how you take it so I also got these" he smiled placing a carton of milk and cream from the cafeteria in front of me and multiple packets of sweetener, sugar and natural sugar.

"Oh my god I could kiss you" I said standing up and hugging him.

"Not in front of me I hope" someone laughed from behind us. Not just someone but the biggest mistake from my past. I didn't need to turn around to recognize the voice that sent chills throughout my body.

"Hunter"

I put these fucking long ass press on nails on because I was bored so writing this made me want to kill myself.
