Lightning/Ruby's POV:
I was given a new paint job and headlights by Ramone for my car the next day. Mater, now sporting a "Team McQueen" emblem on his shirt and truck, seems psyched as well.
"Let's go, everyone!" Dad said, "We don't want to miss the flight!" I dashed up to Dad with a smile, "Every step of the way?"
"You know it."
Mack and Sarge rolled my car into the trailer, and I hopped in the Hudson Hornet with Dad, knowing that there was something he wanted to discuss with me. I watched everyone pile into their cars and follow the Hornet down the road to the airport. I leaned back against the seat, feeling the cool air on full blast hit me in the face.
"Ruby, where were you last night?"
I turned my head to Dad, "I hung out with Mater, Dad. He and I were staring at the stars, trying to find different shapes. Even a shooting star or two." I told him, keeping my voice light and happy. Dad side-glanced at me, "Huh... you sure?" I rolled my eyes and gently pushed his arm, "Daaad..."
"Okay, okay." He waved his hand, "Are you sure that's all?" He teased. I groaned, feeling my face heat up and Dad laughing.
We reached the airport and exited the cars. Dad walked up to the check-in table and told the receptionist that Lightning McQueen's car was ready to be loaded to Tokyo. After checking in, we walked to an airport departure sign advertising the next flight: Tokyo, Japan.
Mater waves goodbye alongside Doc, Guido, Luigi, Fillmore, and Sarge as the rest of Radiator Springs watch us board the plane. I hugged Sally one last time before entering the plane and turned my head to see Red bawling. I waved goodbye to them, and the door closed.
Mater and I are the only ones awake, watching an insane Japanese game show as everyone else is asleep. Dad was sitting behind us, asleep, snoring a little. I leaned toward Mater and pecked his cheek, "I'm going to sleep." I yawned.
"G'night purty girl." He kissed my forehead and turned off the screen on the seat in front of us.
I woke up at the sound of the plane wheels hitting the ground and gazed up at Mater to see his eyes sparkle in awe out the window. I sat up and rolled my shoulders, feeling them pop. I turned around to see everyone else was awake, staring out the window, pointing at every detail.
"Ruby."
I gaze over my shoulder to Dad, "Yeah?"
"Everyone is expecting to see Lightning McQueen. I suggest you get ready."
"Okay."
Exiting the plane, I dashed towards the bathrooms and slipped my wig and wrappings on, "Okay, Ruby. They want to see Lightning. Here we go..." I came out of the bathroom and stood next to Dad... ah... Doc. "I'm ready to go." Doc faces me with a grin, "Let's go, hotrod." We exited the airport and noticed it getting dark.
Walking down the streets, we noticed a stylish Tokyo cityscape of neon, glamour, scrolling billboards, vending machines, and high-tech skyscrapers. Mater and I entered a souvenir shop loaded with McQueen toys. I felt something bump against my leg and glanced down to see a tourist playing with a Lightning McQueen toy. "Hi." I greeted. The tourist faints from excitement, and I exchange a glance with Mater.
We entered a Kabuki Theater, watching a methodical dance happen. Mater, dressed in Kabuki makeup, arrives, and people begin to mumble and whisper about him. "He looks insane." I hear someone whisper, making me feel embarrassed. I sunk lower in my seat, face heating up.
I turn to Doc after the dance, taking in his pale face as he glances at Mater every few seconds. We then noticed a fight going on and walked over to see what was happening. Two Suzuki Samurai wrestlers wrestling over a parking space. Mater, now in his element, cheers. I felt uncomfortable and grabbed his arm, "Mater let's go. We're going to be late." I whispered in my normal voice, getting his attention.
