INT. PIT ROW - TRACK SIDE - DAY
Mater bursts through the security gate with aplomb, tears through the pits and stops at McQueen's pit. Jumping out of the truck, he turns to everyone.
"Mater!" Doc gasped in surprise. Mater sprinted to the crew chief, "Everybody get out! Get out now! Y'all gotta get out the pits!" He turns his head and notices that the entire Radiator Springs gang is there.
"Hey, what are you guys doing here?"
"We're here because of you, Mater." Sally answered. Flo walks up to Mater, "Is everything okay?"
"No! Everything's not okay! There's a bomb in here! Y'all gotta get out! Now!" Mater warns. Doc's eyes widened. Everyone speaks over each other, "- A bomb? - Huh? - Woah."
FINN OVER RADIO "Mater!"
MATER INTO RADIO "Finn! You're okay!" Mater steps back from the gang, glancing to the side, pressing his hand on the radio.
EXT. LONDON STREETS
"Mater, listen to me. The bomb is on you." Finn spoke. On his screen, it shows a bomb attached around Mater's chest.
"They knew you'd try to help McQueen. When we were knocked out they attached it around your chest."
INT. MCQUEEN'S PIT
Mater frowns and rips his jacket off. Mater sees the explosive device attached to him. He looks up to see an ALLINOL container hanging ominously over his head.
"Uh-oh."
"Mater! There you are!" A recognizable voice comes through Mater's radio.
Mater turns around as Ruby enters Pit Row, 100 yards away and closing in fast.
"Stop right there!"
"Oh man, I've been so worried about you!"
Through the window of a luxury box, Zundapp shows in the window's reflection. He's watching from inside; poised to push a DETONATOR BUTTON.
As Zundapp's hand approaches the detonator, Mater steps back into the truck, his eyes never leaving Ruby's car.
INT. MCQUEEN'S PIT
"Don't come any closer!"
"Are you okay?"
"No, I'm not okay. Stay away from me!!" Mater peels out backwards, out onto the track. Leaving everyone baffled.
"No, wait. Wait!" Ruby calls out.
Professor Zundapp hesitates, and can't believe it.
A TV Camera catches Mater taking off on the track, leaving the announcers stunned.
BRENT MUSTANGBURGER (V.O.) "Hold everything. A tow truck has just raced onto the track. And he's driving backwards!"
IN MCQUEEN'S PIT
"Mater, wait!" Ruby couldn't believe it. Ignoring her father's order to stop, she breezes right through her pit, and goes after Mater.
DAVID HOBBSCAP (V.O.) "Normally an emergency vehicle on the track means there's been an accident."
BRENT MUSTANGBURGER (V.O.) "Wait, wait. Lightning McQueen is chasing him!"
EXT. TRACK - DAY
Ruby's POV:
Mater drives up the track. I gain, fast. Because Mater's going backwards, we're face-to-face but still with some distance between us.
