I hate this class.

Okay, okay, I don't hate it but it just... It brings back bad memories. The whole school does honestly. I love that my friends are here and everything but so much has happened recently, too much. When Will came back it was great, incredible, you know? I mean we all thought he was dead but it's just different now. I don't want to baby him but what if I lose him like I lost El?

Shit. Here I go droning on about El now. I miss her alright. I admit it. Now that she's gone, it's weird. I mean, Dustin, Lucas, Will, and I are just different now. Lucas is preoccupied with that girl, Dustin is also head over heels of the same girl and Will is... actually, I'm not sure how Will is. It's not that I don't check up on him or anything he's just been in his head. Sometimes I wonder if he even wants to be friends anymore.

"Hello? Earth to Mike?"

My thoughts are interrupted as I hear Mrs. Varga's squeaking voice.

"What?" I question

"I told you to read verse 4 of the poem." She states

Shit, I didn't even know we were reading a poem.

As if Will could read my mind, he slides over his poem. Phew.

I look over the poem quickly, taking note of the title, "The Road Not Taken" by Robert Frost. Whatever. Nothing we read ever has any significance anyways.

[after class]

"You guys wanna come over tonight and make sure all of our costumes are ready for Halloween?" Dustin says while stuffing a bag of gummy worms into his mouth.

"Johnathan's watching me tonight and I think he'll be busy with homework so I'm not sure I'll have a ride." Will says.

"I can take you!" I say

Oh... That came out a little... excited?

"I mean... if you want."

Saved it.

"I don't think my mom will let me, it's alright though. You guys can and I'll see you tomorrow. bye." Will says backing away.

Before I can answer, he's gone. I watch as he gets into Johnathan's car and they drive away.

I know there's something wrong but I can't place it.
