~you're dead-

we all walked outside and watched the cars drive away. once they were out of sight we went back inside and just kind of sat there. "steve grab that blanket," dustin said and pointed at the blanket on the couch. "why?" steve asked. "just do it," he said. "now pick up the demo-dog," he said. "oh hell no," steve said. "please!" dustin yelled and steve sighed and used the blanket to pick it up.

dustin walked over and started cleaning out the fridge, dropping everything on the floor. "alright, it should fit now," dustin said. "is this really necessary?" steve asked. "yes it is okay? it's a ground breaking scientific discovery we can't just bury it like some common mammal, it isn't a dog," he said. "alright alright alright, but you're explaining this to mrs. byers alright?" steve said and shoved it into the fridge. "christ help me out,"

"what am i supposed to do?" dustin asked. "get the door," he said. "ew jesus," he said. he sighed and put his hand on dustin's head. "you're a weird kid," i said to dustin. "your favorite weird kid," he replied. "obviously," i laughed. "that lab is swarming with hundreds of those dogs," i heard mike say. "DEMO-DOGS," dustin yelled and i just stifled a laugh. "the chief will take care of her," lucas said. "like she needs protection," max said. "listen dude, a coach calls a play in a game, bottom line you execute it, alright," steve said as we walked into the living room.

"ok first of all this isn't some stupid sports game and second we're not even in the game we're on the bench," mike said. "righ- so my point is, right yeah we're on the bench so uh, there's nothing we can do," he said. "that's not entirely true," dustin said. "dear god," i said. "i mean these demo-dogs they have a hive mind," dustin said. "when they ran away from the bus they were called away,"

"so if we get their attention," lucas said. "maybe we can draw them away from the lab," max said. "clear a path to the gate," mike said. "yeah and then we ALL die," steve said. "yeah that's one point of view," dustin said. "no that's not a point of view man that's a fact," he replied. "i've got it, this is where the chief dug his hole this is our way into the tunnel," mike said walking into the other room, pointing at wills map. "here right here, this is like a hub so you got all the tunnels feeding into here, maybe if we set this on fire," "oh yeah that's a no," steve interrupted him. "the mind flayer would call away his army," dustin said. "they'd all come to stop us," lucas said. "then we circle back to the exit and by the time they realize we're gone," mike said. "el would be at the gate," max said.

"hey, hey, hey! this is not happening," steve said. "but," "no no no no, no buts, i promised i'd keep you shitheads safe and the are exactly what i plan on doing, we're staying here on the bench and we're waiting for the starting team to do their job does everybody understand?" he asked. "this isn't a stupid sports game!" mile srgued. "hey! steve's right it would be putting us all in danger and we were told specifically to stay here and wait, now he said do you understand, so do you?" i said. "blake, blakely rayne, my dearest sister, PLEASE," dustin said and grabbed my arm. we all heard an engine revving and max went towards the window. i didn't even need to see it to know who's car that was.

"it's," max started. "billy," i said. "he can't know i'm here, he'll kill me, he'll kill us," she said. "i got this," steve said and walked out the door. "get away from the window shitbrains," i whisper-yelled. they backed up slightly but didn't listen. i saw them all jump down. "SHIT, did he see us?" dustin said. "you dumb asses," i said as they all moved behind me. billy walked in and i grabbed steve's bat. "well well well, lucas sinclair, i thought i told you to stay away from him max," billy said walking up to her. "and blake? i thought i told you to stay away from harrington,"

"billy go away," max said. "you disobeyed me, both of you," he said, looking at me and max. "you know what happens when you disobey me, i break things," he said and grabbed me, making me drop the bat. he had me up against the wall, hand around my throat, cutting off my air. "since maxine won't listen to me, maybe she'll listen to you, tell her to stay away from that little bitch," he said. i was grabbing at his hand and couldn't breathe. i kicked him in the balls and he fell backwards.

i grabbed my neck gasping for air. "oh you are SO dead blakely, you hear me? you're dead," he said. "no," steve said grabbing his shoulder. "you are," he said and punched billy. "STEVE!" i said. max and dustin grabbed me pulling me towards them. "looks like you've got some fire in ya after all huh? i've been waiting to meet this king steve everybody keeps telling me, so much about," billy said, laughing maniacally. "get out," steve said, pushing him away by his chest.

billy swung at him but steve dodged it and hit him twice. "steve stop!" i said. "he's gonna kill you!" i yelled as the others cheered him on. billy broke a plate on his head and we all backed up. "billy stop!" me and max said. "please stop!" i yelled. "stay out of it blake," he said and punched him again. "no one, tells me what to do," billy said and head-but him. i very stupidly, grabbed billy's arm in attempt to stop him, but he just hit me too. "don't lay another finger on her you piece of shit!" steve yelled and hit him.

billy just started wailing on him like a mad man. "stop you're gonna kill him!" dustin yelled. he wouldn't stop, steve was gonna die if he didn't stop. i looked at max who was walking towards him and stuck a needle in his neck. he stood up, turning to her. he pulled the needle out and stared at her. "the hell is this?" he asked. "you little shit what did you do?"

he fell to the ground and started laughing. max grabbed steve's bat and went up to him. "from here on out you leave me, blake, and our friends alone, do you understand?" max asked. "screw you," billy said. she hit the bat right next to his dick, making it hit the ground. he looked at it in fear. "say you understand! say it! say it!" she yelled. "i understand," he said. "what?" she asked. "i understand," he repeated. she walked over and grabbed his keys from his pocket as i ran over to steve. "let's get out of here," she said.

"woah woah woah don't move another muscle you hear me?" i said. they all looked at me, then back at each other. they all left the room and i knelt down next to steve. "steve can you hear me?" i said. he was knocked out cold. "it's gonna be okay," i said and put my hand through his hair. all the sudden i felt something wrap around me and i couldn't move.
