The Creel house was old and derelict. It gave Steve the jitters as he was walking through it, a tape in his hand that he had pulled from Eddie Munson's extensive collection.

The stairs were creaky and let out sounds of complaint with every step he took. It didn't help that he had acquired combat boots for the amount of walking they had to do for this plan (wearing Adidas sneakers wasn't exactly practical).

"Steve, this isn't going to be pleasant. I told you to stay outside." Eddie warned as Steve came into the attic room where he was waiting for Vecna to find him.

"Yeah, I know you did, but you're not doing this alone, okay?" Steve questioned firmly as he stepped closer, "besides, I figured maybe you'd want something a little more you to escape from Vecna. The second you start floating, I'm calling in Black Sabbath, alright?" Steve explained, displaying the tape he had pulled from Eddie's collection.

Children Of The Grave by Black Sabbath.

Robin had given him Cherry Bomb by The Runaways. Admittedly still a rock song, but not really his style. Fortunately, Steve knew that he preferred metal to anything else and managed to obtain a better suited tape before leaving the trailer. Eddie fared better against Vecna with music that was his preferred style than anything else.

"I love you, I'd much rather it be me. But you have the connection to the Upside Down and I don't. Kick Vecna's ass, sweetheart." Steve said softly before pulling Eddie into a kiss by his face.

It was a short kiss, but just as meaningful as any other that they have shared in the four months that they have been dating.

"Thanks for being here with me, Steve. I was starting to overthink everything." Eddie said once he had pulled away, his hands on Steve's shoulders.

"Of course. I wouldn't be anywhere else. Some date night this turned out to be, huh?" Steve responded, laughing lightly at how their date night to the drive-in movie theatre had been ruined. They were supposed to be going to see The Rocky Horror Show, or rather, Eddie was trying to convince Steve to like it.

Eddie also laughed in response to Steve's (albeit pathetic) attempt of a mood lightening joke.

Steve held onto the Walkman as they sat in silence in the Creel House waiting for Vecna to take the bait that had been laid out for him, the tape ready to play for whenever Eddie started to float. This wasn't how he had wanted to spend time with his boyfriend today, but if it meant saving Hawkins, he'd pretty much do anything.

after this, you can tell your friends if you want. Eddie had scrawled on a piece of paper and shown to him.

about us? are you sure? Steve wrote back, listening to the eerie sounds of the old wood in the house creaking and groaning from it's old age and disuse.

of course i'm sure. i love you and i'm tired of hiding it. i wanna kiss you and hold your hand and do boyfriend-y things ♡. Eddie responded, a soft smile on his lips as Steve was reading what he had written.

Steve smiled up at him and then leant back against the wooden box behind him as Eddie sat cross-legged on the floor, the silence between them was almost overwhelming. Steve just wanted to talk to Eddie to reassure him, but any noise could deter Vecna.

Steve looked around the creepy attic space, shining his flashlight in all different directions. The rafters were rotting back because of all the bugs eating the wood, the corner of the floor on the far side having collapsed from the supports failing years ago. This whole house was exceptionally creepy and Steve would pay his monthly salary for a year to never come here again.
