cw: heavy angst, car accident, blood
☆
Steve was trying to teach Robin to drive, emphasis on trying, so that he didn't have to be her personal taxi service all the time.
It was going okay until a car was crossing the junction up ahead and Robin was not slowing down. If anything, the speed was increasing.
"Robin, put your fucking foot on the break, now." Steve almost yelled as the car was speeding closer to a collision.
Steve made a dive out of the passenger door just seconds before the two vehicles collided, spraining his wrist and injuring his ankle pretty badly on the landing. He wasn't too concerned with that right now.
He limped his way over to the van that Robin had collided with. The van had flipped, landing on the drivers side door. Steve popped the passenger side door and bit down on his tongue so he didn't scream in pain when he used his wrist.
He unbuckled the seatbelt and pulled the driver out. A familiar mop of curly brown hair could be seen as Steve carefully pulled him out. Robin felt a sinking feeling as she realised that she had hit Eddie's van.
The wounds across his stomach had opened up again and his left arm was evidently very badly broken, that was going to mess up all the plans for Corroded Coffin that he had been so excited about. Steve remembered how giddily he had smiled and how he had giggled when Steve kissed him. There was a deep gash across his thigh, almost to the bone, there would definitely be some serious muscle damage there, and his head was bleeding, his forehead slick with crimson blood and his hair becoming matted.
"Eds, come on sweetheart, open your eyes for me." Steve encouraged, carefully brushing Eddie's hair away from his face.
Robin crawled herself towards where Steve was, her ankle almost shattered and her head bleeding too. Although the difference was that she was mostly okay.
"What did I do?" Robin questioned guiltily, gulping in regret once she saw Eddie's arm.
"Almost killed him. He's bleeding out and I can't stop it. He's gonna die in my arms and it's all your fault. You and your fucking stupid uncoordinated ass." Steve hissed, trying his best to put pressure on all of Eddie's wounds, but wincing in pain every time he applied pressure through his wrist.
"Hopper's cabin isn't far into those woods. Keep him the fuck alive whilst I get Hopper to ring an ambulance. Do not let him die." Steve explained firmly, his tone serious and unlike anything she'd heard before.
—
Steve was almost in tears from the excruciating pain and he could barely put any weight on his ankle by the time he reached Hopper's cabin. It definitely wasn't sprained, but that wasn't important right now. He had to worry about Eddie and Robin. He would worry about himself later.
"Steve? God, what happened to you?" Hopper tried to usher him inside, but he adamantly refused.
"Eddie and Robin.. they're worse than me. So much worse. I need you to call an ambulance for them, please. Eddie's bleeding out, his arm is badly broken. I- uh- I pulled him out of his van. Robin broke her ankle too. They both have head wounds. Hopper, please. I'm the only one who can walk." Steve almost begged, the pain making him desperate.
"Steve. Tell me now, what happened?" Jim asked, firmer now. Wondering what had happened that caused three people to be so badly hurt.
"I tried to teach Robin to drive. She crashed into Eddie's van because her laces got stuck. I jumped out before the impact. It wasn't in my car... it was a different one. Can you just- get the ambulance please?" He rambled, becoming increasingly disoriented and confused. The adrenaline was wearing off, he obviously had a concussion from leaping out of the car.
