Chapter 14
Blake's POV
"To see my grandmother." I said stiffly.
Francesca gave me a confused look before shaking it off. She wrapped her arm around me and I gripped her waist in response.
I lead the way to the car, taking the driver’s seat this time because I knew the way. Francesca got into the passenger seat then Matt and James got into the back.
Once everyone was buckled up and ready to go I started on the ten minute drive to my grandmother’s house. It had been a while since I've last seen her. And I don't regret it. People may think I'm nasty because of this, but I don't like my grandmother. I use to see her every month, but every time I went to see her she would be horrible. I can't really describe it but I've never felt comfortable or safe around my grandmother.
I shook the thoughts out of my head and concentrate on the road in front of me. I drove up the familiar path sighing deeply then pulling up in front of her cottage. Everyone stepped out of the car and looked around in awe. I didn't blame them; my grandmother had a wonderful garden. Flowers of every colour of the rainbow were scattered around the garden - though it was large enough to be called a field. Tall trees near the edges of the field and towards the middle created a mysterious look, a contrast between the beautiful illuminant flowers, and the dark shaded area.
We walked up to the green door, knocking on it gently before waiting to hear the footsteps of my grandmother. Her shoes tapped against the floor and the door flew open revealing my grandmother in all her glory. She looked the same as she use to. Short gray hair, weirdly shaped nose, wrinkles making up her face, and the cold blue eyes that always made me uneasy.
"Blake! What a surprise! And these are your friends?" She plastered a smile on her face and opened the door wider, letting us in.
"Grandmother," I nodded a hello and said, "Yes, this is James, Matt and My mate Francesca." I pointed at each of them as I said their names.
She smiled at them and said, "Welcome, I'm Cassandra Miller, Blake's grandma. Take a seat in the conservatory while I go make some tea."
I stopped her before she could leave, "Grandmother, no. We need to speak with you and we don't need any tea."
Her face hardened when she looked at me, "Fine. Take a seat and we can talk."
The tension in the room was uncomfortable, and I felt Francesca squirm beside me. I squeezed her arm and sat down in the love seat, pulling her down with me. Grandmother sat down across from us, cocking her eyebrow at us questioningly. "What do you want to know?"
"Hadrian Blarington and Candy Moore. Why does Candy want Hadrian dead? We know that Candy's grandparents killed Hadrian's brother but why does she hate him?" I asked.
She took a deep breath before saying, "Candy is not her real name. It's Sagabath Candy Moore. Sagabath's mother is dead. Hadrian killed her. He wanted revenge on her family for killing his brother, so he killed her mother. And now Sagabath wants him dead."
"But why did Sagabath's grandparents kill Hadrian's brother in the first place?" asked Francesca.
"Because they were scared of what he could do. Henry was his name, and he had strange abilities. People kept their distance from the Masters and Blaringtons because Francesca, your great great grandmother cheated on your great great grandfather with James Masters. Hadrian's great grandfather. Stephanie Lyons was your great great grandmother's name and her husband, George Darring. Anyways, Henry Blarington could do things no one else could do. I don't know what but... it scared everyone. So they killed him. Sagabath's parents were the leaders. But Francesca you must know that your grandparents had nothing to do with it, in fact they tried to stop them from killing an innocent little boy, as did I." She talking to Francesca now. Not paying attention to anyone else in the room.
