You may be wondering how we got to where we are, spilling whine on couches, and nagging our roomates? Here's how:
Carden's POV:
3:30AM
RING, RING, RING!! Ugh, not the phone, who would be calling this late at night?! A though popped into my head, maybe it's for the thing I posted about needing a roommate. But this early? I rolled over, staring at the ringing phone.
RING, RING, RING!
I puff out a breath and reach for the phone and sit up. "Hello?" I ask, trying not to sound as grumpy by being woken up as I am. "This is Carden Greenbriar, who's calling?"
A moment of silence, then a female voice rattled back through the speakers. "Hi my name is Jude Duarte, i- uh- I saw your.. uhm.. post. You said you needed a roommate?"
"Yes I did"
"Uhm.. is the offer still available? I don't really have anywhere to go, right now. I just escaped my ex and have no place to live, if I don't get a place fast he'll find me. I don't have any money... But.. I uh... "
"Your offer is accepted" I say the words without thinking. "You can come by now if you wish, where are you?"
"Oh!" Her delicate voice gasped through the speakers. "Really? I mean don't I have to.. sign.. something?"
"Never mind that, the address is on the Facebook post I made, check that"
"Oh my god thank you so much!" The woman sounded as if she might be crying. "Thank you, thank you, thank you!"
Something twanged in my heart. "It's... No problem."
