"Did you see that?"

"Wasn't that that thing they showed on the news last night?"

"I thought they said it dissappeared!"

"So did this."

"Maybe it's a new one?"

"What the heck was it?"

"It just vanished!"

Throughout all the chatter only two people in the room were silent. The first was Mr. Domolo, who was still sitting in his chair, staring off into space. The other was John. This has to be just a coincidence. Why would it be following me? Or maybe it's following someone else. I bet there were a bunch of other students in the park. It's the only place with any real entertainment. Yeah, it has nothing to do with me. Wait, why would it be following anyone? I don't even know what IT is! Nothing to do with me. Nothing to do with me.

Needless to say he had a hard time paying attention in the few classes he had that day. Nobody else got much of anything done either. The only topic anyone was talking about was the hole. John was surprised that they had even tried to keep school in session, what with the media crawling all over the place as well as the police and a team of scientists. About halfway through the day though, the students were sent home so that the scientists could perform tests inside the building.

He found Lyna standing by the front of the building, waiting for him.

"Hey, were you waiting for me?"

"Maybe. Want to go to the park again?"

"Sure. Do you want to go to the lake again?" He smiled at the memory.

"I was thinking either the zoo or the carnival this time."

"Very couple worthy choices."

Lyna laughed. "Well we are aren't we? At least I hoped we are after that kiss you stole."

"That I stole? I was under the impression that it was mutally initiated."

"Only because you were too chicken to go for it first."

"Hey, it took me all year just to ask you out!"

"And that's what's so cute about you."

"So which one do you want to do more: the holo-zoo or the carnival? I'm up for either."

"Hmm...cute virtual animals or tunnel of love?"

John blushed.

"The zoo it is."

"Then let's catch the next levtram to the park then."

They spent the rest of the day looking at the exhibits of the animals.
