The scienctists were still swarming over the school the next day, so Lyna and John decided to spend the day in the shopping district. They met up on the edge of the residential ring, between their two houses, and walked to the second ring.
"Where should we go first, John?"
"Someplace with food. I'm starving."
"It's only eleven. I had breakfast an hour ago."
"Well my mom hasn't been grocery shopping in a while. There's nothing to eat at my place. Besides, I know you cannot resist french fries. I happened to hear of a place that supposedly makes the best fries you've ever tasted. Shall we see if the rumors are true?"
"You had me at french fries."
"Great. But it's in the south quarter, so we'll have to catch a levtram to get there."
"Time will only make the fries taste even sweeter. But I am curious to know your secret source of information on my weakness."
John laughed, "It's nothing sinister. I've seen you grab three trays of fries on curly fry day instead of eating your regular sandwich from home."
"Stalker."
"No, just a reeeeally big crush." John turned his head and blushed. "But when you put it that way...I'm sorry if I did anything creepy."
"You are so cute! And too easy to mess with." Lyna declared with a huge grin.
You're the cute one. John thought. And that smile is the cutest.
They hopped off the tram a couple blocks from the shop. Twenty minutes later they were munching on hot, greasy french fries. Lyna deliberated, "these are ok, but they aren't the best fries I've ever tasted. Where did you hear such outrageous rumor?"
"From Rem."
"Oh come on, that guy has no taste buds! I saw him putting ketchup on a fruit salad the other day!"
"Who's the stalker now?"
"Okay, maybe I was looking at you too a little bit. But only after I caught you staring at me!" Now it was Lyna's turn to blush.
She looks so beautiful blushing. And she was looking at me before I asked her out! I still can't get my head around it.
Lyna interrupted his internal monolouging. "I feel like something sweet now, you want to go get some ice cream?
"Sure. It looks like there's a shop right over there. What kind are you gonna get?"
"Chocolate chip mocha. And you?"
"Moose tracks."
"What the heck is that?"
"Vanilla ice cream with peanut butter cups and fudge pieces."
"Oooo...I'm gonna try that instead."
"Are you all ways this erratic?"
"Yup."
"Cool, 'cuz it's cute."
"Do I detect mushiness from the boy who is afraid of the Tunnel of Love?"
"It's just...well you're my first girlfriend and...Gah!"
"What?"
"I don't know...just..."
"Will you hurry up, my moose tracks are melting." She smiled mischievously.
"I really have no idea what to do!" He blurted out.
"Well I think you're doing okay so far."
John breathed a sigh of relief. "That's good."
"Hey, do you want to go to the arcade? I bet I can kick your butt at Virtu-Dance Battle!"
"Well I bet I can cream you at pac-man!"
"Fan of ancient games are we?"
"Pac-man will never die."
"Then I will prove you wrong by not only beating you at your silly ancient game, but also giving you a good drubbing in one of today's finest games!"
"First, you are so on, and second, VDB is not the coolest game ever made."
"We shall see...we shall see..."
"Says the girl who is using words so old they don't even show up in the dictionary anymore."
"Quite."
-Two Hours Later-
"How can you possilby move that little yellow circle that fast?!"
"How does anyone manage to do the splits that far and bend over backwards at the same time?!"
"Gymnastics."
"Too many free weekends."
"I take back what I said about ancient games being easy."
"You never said that."
"Well I was thinking it."
"I am impressed by your dance skills. You seem even beat the high score. Twice!"
"Just part of my charm."
"It really is." John gazed at her face, contemplating voicing his thoughts. "You know I love you right?"
Lyna got serious too, "I do. I love you too, you know. I did really know if I would."
They leaned in to kiss.
But never got a chance. The world exploded around them. John only thought was: Crap. It is me.

For anyone who's still reading this-
First of all, I'm sorry if the update schedule is a bit slow, I need to be really motivated to sit down and write a whole chapter. Second, I may be going back and editing previous chapters because I got this far into the story and realized that the timeline of the story was going a bit faster than I originally intended. This is the first story I've ever written, so I should get better!
All will be revealed in time!
Read, enjoy, and comment (PLEASE!!!). I want to know if anyone is actually reading this.
