/ FLASH BACK /

I was siting in my room.

That room...

I hated it.

I hated the smell, the temperature, the white color of the walls, the little light beam coming from the window, the clear color of the wooden floor, the furniture, the constant silence... I hated everything...

I hated everything that I could find in that room.

I decided to get out of it.

I was hungry.

I saw myself : a tiny little girl, I was six, jumping out of the bed. Her big black curls were falling on her back and she was trying to open the door without making any noise.

I put my head out and looked around. When I was sure that nobody was here and that the way was clear, I ran to the kitchen, as fast as I could.

I was scared : I knew that I was taking a huge risk by getting out of my room without being allowed to do it. I knew that if somebody saw me out of my room, I would be punished.

I finally arrived in the kitchen.

I took a bowl, a cereal box and a bottle of milk then I quickly made my lunch and sat on a chair.

I began to eat my bowl of cereal, quickly.

I was starving.

SHE wasn't authorizing me to eat. And as I was eating and planning how I was going to come back to my room in the most discreet way, I heard a kind of trampling noise.

I stop chewing my food, trying to pay more attention to the noise coming from the hall. It was a sound of footsteps, they were coming closer. I quickly recognized the owner of those and I felt my blood freezing in my veins.

It was Marine.

It was her.

She was coming.

I needed to get out of there.

I swallowed the bite in my mouth really fast and get up, thinking during five seconds that I could escape.

But when I raised my head, she was already in front of me.

Marine was the wife of the man who raised me.

She hated me with a passion, and when I was a little girl, she was terrorizing me.

She looked at me, with a disgusted expression, as if when she came in the kitchen, she didn't find a little girl of six years old but a nasty rat.

She saw the bowl I was holding in my hands.

She slapped my face so hard that I dropped my cereals and fell to the floor.

-Little pest ! I've already told you that I don't want to see you out of your room !

She forcefully took me by the scruff of my neck, lifting me up but then she pushed me back to the ground.

Marine had always been violent and brutal with me. She began to insult me, saying atrocious things about me and my mother.

When she was looking at me, it looked like her eyes were burning, ignited by all the hate and the fury that was possessing her.

A very intimidating vision for the little girl that I was.

I was crying, face down, lying on the floor, but I couldn't move, I was petrified and scared to death : She was unpredictable, you can never say what she's going to do to you next.
