Chapter 8- Save One, Change One

~Jasper's P.O.V~

"Ah, marvelous!" It was Aro who spoke. "Why is there a human with them?" It was Cauis. "Oh, a human?" Aro asked, a rhetorical question. "Does she know anything?" Duh. Why else would she be here with us? "Alice!" Aro quickly looks at her, and he starts clapping with excitement. "You finally decide to join us?" Alice looks out of the corner of her eye, towards her entire family.

"Yes." Alice responded. "Alice?" Esme spoke, she feels so.. Broken. Of course, because she's losing one of her "children." We needed Edward, now.

~Edward's P.O.V~

I'm so close to catching up to Reiko... One more minute?! I go into the shadows and run at vampire speed towards Reiko. She's almost stepping into the sun... Her body is just marvelous. "Reiko, no!" I yell to her, and she looks up at me. She looks so shocked and she shakes her head, thinking she must be imagining me.

"Reiko!!" I yell. I get into the sunlight, and start running at human speed. I finally reach to her and squeeze her to... Life?

"Edward?"

"Yes, it's me."

She backs out from my arms and puts her hand on my cheek. "I must be in hell. This is one sick joke" She looks like she's about to cry.

"No no no, don't cry" I pull her closer to me and I kiss her head "I'm here... I'm here..." I continuously repeat to her, and softly push her into the shadows. "Suicide?" I ask

"Yeah..."

"You thought nobody would notice your absence?"

She looks at the ground "Yeah.."

"You made me miserable" I say and she looks back up at me in an instant.

"I made you miserable? How?"

"By leaving me"

"I thought you wanted Bella"

"I want- no, need you"

"What?"

"It's true"

She stares deeply into my eyes and tries to control me, but her power is broken off suddenly

"You made my emotions flare and now I can't focus" I stick my tounge at her and she smiles.

"Kiss me, Edward Cullen" She requests, and I shake my head 'no' and she gets a confused look "We have to go to the Volturi" I say, my voice breaking

"What?! Why?"

"We... We needed to find out about you, and... Alice... Wait, I can read Jasper's mind." I let go of her and I take off my shirt and I toss it to her "It's too tempting" I smirk and if she could, she would've blushed.

I gesture her to follow me, and we walk towards Jasper, it wasn't hard to miss his scent. "What do you mean 'Alice is gone'?" I ask Jasper. "It means, she's now with the Volturi"

"What?" Reiko asks

"It's true" Jasper says and looks at her

"Why though?"

"Because, I... Love Katelyn."

"But, I thought you loved Alice?"

"Not as much as Katelyn..."

"Wouldn't she have to be changed?!" She whisper yells at him

"Of course."

"But... When?"

"Sometime in the next 4 months"

"4 MONTHS?!" Reiko and I, once again, yell whisper"

"Aro would like to speak to you. All three of you." It was Jane who suddenly spoke, and we didn't jump by the shock.

We walk behind her, through a whole bunch of twists and turns, I hated this.

~Reiko's P.O.V~

We have to go through all these twists and turns, and I look up at Edward's face to see he hasn't hunted. His eyes were raging with thirst. He looks down at me and looks into my blood-thirsty eyes and he smirks "Guessing somebody didn't hunt either" I nod and give him a slight smile.

We reach to these big doors, and we enter. "Ah, Reiko. What a pleasant surprise!" Aro gives me a wide grin, a mischievous one. "Hello, Aro." I bow down to him, and somehow, his smile got wider. "Ahh, Edward Cullen. It's wonderful to see you! You going to join us, like Alice over here?" Edward shakes his head "I'm afraid not" Aro's smile disappears, and he puts his gaze back on Katelyn, and his smile returns.

"You'd make a unique newborn" Jasper growls at Aro's comment, then Jane and Alec eye Jasper carefully, as if they were to attack at his slightest movement. "So, Jasper. I see it's your intention to propose to your human?" Katelyn stares at him wide eyed, and Jasper looks at Katelyn and nods. What? Why would he put her life in jeopardy?!

"Yes, Aro. It is my intention" he gets down on one knee, and takes out a ring "Katelyn Janelle Dhamp, will you do me the honor and become my beloved wife?" it looks like as if Katelyn's eyes would've popped out of her head, if such a thing were possible.

"Y-yes" She stutters and she hugs him ever so tightly, I wanted to hug Edward so bad. I hear a movement, so I look over in the direction of the sound and see Edward looking deep into my black eyes. He walked closer.. And closer... Until he had his arms wrapped around me. Jane suddenly clears her throat, un-needed. Katelyn jumps, and the rest stay there plain and dead. "Carlisle..." Edward states, remembering about the situation we are in. They, I mean we, are going to lose Alice all due to jealousy.

"... What are we going to do?" Edward finishes, and Carlisle just looks at him. For once, he really looked like he wanted to kill Aro and his minions. It always disgusted me how that worked. "There's nothing we can do" is all he says back in return, I didn't believe he would say this! Honestly, with it being Carlisle, he would at least have an idea. This isn't right, why would Alice even put herself into this position? She'll be feeding on humans! Of course. She must have an idea, maybe to get rid of the Volturi once and for all? I hope so, they're in the way of everything. It's quite tiring.

"Carlisle, I know your intentions..." Alice says. She really needs to get out of everyone's futures.. She focuses on everybody's future, I just want a wolf around so she can't get into everyone's future.
