Chapter 6

Carlos's POV

Later that night....

"All right, It says that we still need one tear and I never cry" Mal said as she was reading the spell from the spell book, we were now gathered in the kitchen and it was late at night and we were working on our love potion since we had decided to add the potion into something that Ben would never suspect which was cookies, Mal was mixing the batter and Evie was standing beside her and she was helping Mal with whatever she needed while Jay and I were sitting atop a counter and Dude was sitting in a large bowl in-between Jay and I before I suggested to Mal as I picked up an onion from the crate next to me "Let's just chop up some onions" Mal then said to me "No, It says that we need one tear of human sadness and this love potion gets the best reviews so we have to follow it exactly" Jay then rolled his eyes before he said "A tear's a tear" "That's not true, Jay, they both have antibodies and enzymes but an emotional tear has more protein-based hormones than a reflex tear" Evie said to Jay while she was grabbing a bag of flour before Mal said to her "Listen to you" "Yeah, I knew that" Jay said before I said to him as I hit him playfully "Did not" "Yeah, I did" Jay said to me before the door opened and Lonnie and Siobhan walked into the room before Lonnie said to Mal as they walked over to Mal and Evie "There you are, Mal!, we were looking for you" Mal then quickly covered the spell book with a white towel before Lonnie said to Mal "You know, all the girls want for you to do their hair" Siobhan then noticed the mixture that Mal was stirring before she said to Mal "Midnight snack, huh?, what are you guys making?" "Nothing special, it's just cookies" Mal said to Siobhan before she and Lonnie dipped their fingers into the batter and we all yelled at them with wide eyes and we extended our arms out to stop them "No!" They then tasted the batter before they looked up at everyone in confusion and Siobhan said to everyone "What?, we're not going to double dip" "Feel anything?" Evie asked them before Mal asked them "Yeah, like maybe it might be missing something?" Jay then walked up slowly and he leaned against a metal bar before he stared at Lonnie in a flirtatious way and he said to her "Hey there" 

Lonnie didn't say anything but she gave him a tight smile before she looked back at Mal and Evie and she said to them "It could use some chips" "Chips?" Jay repeated in a confused voice before Lonnie walked over to the refrigerator and we all sighed in relief that the girls were not affected by the potion before Siobhan smiled at me and I smiled back at her before Mal asked the two girls "And those are?" "Chocolate chips, just the most important food group" Siobhan said to Mal while Lonnie took a small bowl of chocolate chips and she closed the refrigerator door before she headed back over to Mal, Evie and Siobhan. We then looked at Siobhan with confused faces before she asked everyone while Lonnie was putting some of the chocolate chips cookies into the batter "Wait, didn't your moms ever make you guys, like, chocolate chip cookies?" Mal and Evie then glanced down at the chips that were sitting in the batter and they looked back up at the girls before Lonnie said to everyone "Like, when you're feeling sad and they're fresh from the oven with a big old glass of milk and she just makes you laugh and puts everything into perspective and-" Lonnie then stopped once she caught sight of our looks, we were sad about it since our parents never did anything like that for us before Lonnie asked everyone "Why are you all looking at me like that?" We didn't make eye contact with her before Mal shook her head as she began to mix the batter once again before she said to Lonnie "It's just different from where we're from" "Yeah, I know, I just, you know, I thought even villains love their kids" Something heavy made a harsh tag at our hearts, Mal then continued to mix the batter to distract herself, Evie then closed her eyes, Jay then slowly caressed one of his arms with one of his hands while I looked down towards the floor. Siobhan then walked over to me and she grabbed one of my hands to comfort me before Lonnie realised what she said to everyone and she said " Oh, how awful" A single tear then ran down one of her cheeks and she put her hands over one of Mal's hands for comfort before Mal looked up and she noticed the tear before she quickly swiped it with one of her fingers and she dropped it into the bowl.
