Chemistry wasn't my worst subject, we already know that. Although it isn't my strongest. Mostly because it has to do with math, but we get to do more experiments than paper work like my algebra class.

I sat in the back like usual and read over the paper that was sitting on my desk. It was a basic experiment and I could do it alone, thank Lilith.

As soon as everyone had taken their seats, along with another new kid, our teacher began explaining the lesson a little bit more. Once she finished, we were welcome to begin.

As I began working, I felt someone staring at me. And I don't mean a light stare, I'm talking death glare. It was like it was drilling into my skull. Without moving my head, I glanced out of my peripheral vision to see who the actual fuck was glaring at me so hard.

Low and behold, it's the new kid. The small amount of worry that had bubbled its way into my heart went away and I resumed the experiment.

It was the potato light bulb experiment. Everyone was given a potato, circuit box, two wires, and a lightbulb.

A pretty easy experiment. All we had to do was document everything we did and what we observed. My teacher didn't really care what you wrote as long as it made sense. I finished pretty quickly, wrote down everything, called my teacher to take a look, then cleaned up my area.

All the while, the new kid was staring straight at me. Talk about creepy.

Once I finished everything I needed to do, I sat down and pulled out my book. I was about halfway through it and I was really enjoying it. In the background I heard some of the other students struggling with the experiment, which is kind of hilarious.

I was extremely thankful when the class ended because I was so uncomfortable. I managed to slip past a few students when I saw the new guy try to speed walk towards me. I made extra sure I lost him in the mass of students. When I saw he wasn't behind me anymore, I relaxed and headed towards my English III class.

Edward

I was very thankful when lunch ended. It was far too awkward for my taste and it didn't help that Alice basically told this girl I was single. Way to put salt on the wound. I was in Chemistry class when I felt something very off. I couldn't figure it out. I tried to ignore it as the teacher explained the assignment. Potato light bulb, how creative.

As she was explaining, thoughts from the other humans made their way into my brain. I watched many of the human's facial expressions to match the thoughts I heard. But I stopped at this dark haired girl.

As I was reading her facial expressions while she tried to execute the assignment, I could match any of the thoughts I was hearing to her. Why couldn't I hear her thoughts?

I briefly heard the girl who sat next to me build our experiment. She wanted to partner up with me and I basically just let her do my work for me while I tried to hear this dark haired girl's thoughts.

It looked like she sensed my eyes on her but she didn't do much but glance out of the side of her eye. It looked like she brushed the feeling off and completed the experiment quickly.

I wondered if I just couldn't place her thoughts. She pulled out a book after she finished cleaning her station. Perfect, most people read in their head so I'll be able to hear what she's reading. She opened the book and began to read.

I waited for her thoughts to enter my brain. I waited and waited and still there was nothing. What the actual fuck. Why can't I read her thoughts?

Soon the bell rang and it knocked me out of focus. When I looked back, the dark haired girl was leaving. I tried to catch up with her to see if I could get some damn answers but I lost her in the sea of humans. Dammit!
