Chapter 3
Fae
Other than the fact that my third period is Algebra, I can't sit in the back. All the dumb kids who are to loud sit back there. So I sit somewhere in the middle against the wall that's closest to the door. There was a boy I hadn't seen before in the seat behind mine but I paid him no mind. Seems like we gained a few more new students than expected. He was a big guy, not huge, but definitely not tiny. He had dark hair and yellow/hazel eyes like the others but he wasn't as pale.
I just sat down and pulled out my book. I could hear the teacher start to drone on and on about some math problem but I didn't really listen. I knew I'd figure the homework out later if I went to the library and learned it myself. About halfway through class, I felt someone tap on my shoulder. I turned to look who did it and it was the boy behind me. I raised an eyebrow as a silent gesture.
"Do you have any idea what he's talking about?" The guy asked. "I have no fucking clue." I replied, shaking my head. The guy started to laugh, slapping his hand over his mouth to keep it semi-quiet. "So what are you going to do about the homework?" he asked after he calmed down.
I put my book down and turned in my seat so my back was to the wall. "I'll figure it out later. This guy talks too much for me to even try and focus on what the hell he's talking about." I replied, glancing at the teacher as he started writing an equation on the board. The guy snorted, "You're pretty funny. I'm Emmett. You?" He asked, introducing himself. "I'm Fae." I replied.
We didn't really talk much after that. Which was alright with me. I turned back in my chair so I was facing the front and went back to my book. And once the bell rang, I was out of there. Leaving no time for Emmett to catch up and try to talk to me again.
Emmett
You'd think that being alive as long as I have you begin to understand math. Math had no business being as complicated as it was. When I walked into the Algebra classroom I picked a seat kind of in the middle near the wall. It was pretty close to the door which was good so I could get out quicker and pick up Rose from her class.
The seats quickly filled up except the one in front of me. After a moment it was filled by a dark haired girl. It looked like she studied me for a moment, which wasn't unusual. I mean, I'm a pretty handsome guy if I say so myself. As soon as she sat down, she pulled out a book. Ah, a nerd I see. She's probably good in this class. I could probably copy off her homework if she let me.
Soon the teacher started the lesson. He droned on and on and I swear he was speaking a different language. I had no idea what he was saying. About halfway through the class, I tapped the girl who sat in front of me on the shoulder. She placed her book down and turned to look at me, raising an eyebrow.
"Do you have any idea what he's talking about?" I asked, pointing at the teacher who had his back to us. "I have no fucking clue." She replied, shaking her head. That caught me off guard and I started laughing but I slapped my hand over my mouth to keep it semi-quiet. "So what are you going to do about the homework?" I asked after I calmed down.
She put her book down and turned in her seat so her back was to the wall. "I'll figure it out later. This guy talks too much for me to even try and focus on what the hell he's talking about." She replied, glancing at the teacher as he started writing an equation on the board. I snorted, "You're pretty funny. I'm Emmett. You?" I asked, introducing himself. "I'm Fae." She replied.
We basically stopped talking after that and she turned back in her chair to face the front and went back to her book. After about 30-ish minutes of class, the bell rang. I stood up and stretched and went to ask Fae what she was doing for lunch but she was already gone. Like she was never here in the first place. Damn, and I thought I was fast.
