Chapter 11

Christopher

"Good evening, Alpha," Matthew, one of the guards at post in the house walked in and greeted me. I turned my attention away from Pietro and looked up at the guard. "There is a woman here to meet you. Should I let her in?" He asked.

My thoughts clouded instantly and my heart skipped a beat. I rolled my leg down from the other one and leaned forward. Was she here? With my wallet? A different unease crippled down my spine. I inhaled a long breath and nodded my head, "Bring her here."

Matthew turned around to leave the room whilst my eyes awakened. It was late, more than three hours later but it didn't matter. She was here and I was going to get my wallet back—maybe her as well.

Pietro jumped up from one couch to another, scrambling toward me like an animal. "Awe, look at you," He placed his head underneath his chin and continued, "You look like a pussy right now. So tensed, so weak." He spoke in a thick accent, reeling my senses.

"Get the fuck out of here, Pietro." I snapped at him.

"I'm not going anywhere. I was fucking my mate, you stopped me and threw her out of here. Now, I'm going to sit right here and watch you melt in front of that woman you claim as your mate. And I'm going to cockblock you every second of your life." He stopped breathing down my neck and sat back on the couch next to mine while holding a drink in his hand.

I looked over my shoulders, staring at him with blood-shot eyes. Pietro was a different breed, never known to us. If he wasn't my brother, my own blood brother, I would've killed him a long time ago.

"I'm not leaving you alone, Christy. Brothers for life?" He smiled hard while uttering the nickname I despised the most.

Shaking my head, I turned away from him and watched the door closely, waiting for her to come in. My nerves knotted with each other. I felt a different kind of exhilaration. My eyes remained wide as the door slowly opened and Matthew walked in with a woman.

I stood up instantly and then realized it wasn't that girl, it was a pregnant woman.

Alicia.

"That is not your mate, Brother." Pietro spoke behind me, shocked as he rose up and stood. "Fuck. You're going to raise a bastard?" He continued blabbering in my ears.

"Quiet, Pietro." I whispered to him. "It's Alicia, Maxwell's wife." I told him as she came into light.

"Oh..." He trailed off for a long minute before he stopped saying anything at all.

I scrambled forward and greeted her. "You look like you're due tomorrow." My gaze lingered over her belly. It was just recently that she had gotten pregnant, there was noway her bump was as big as it seemed.

"Well, it's twins." She chuckled and then shrugged.

"Sit, please." I took her to the sitting area and we both sat down while I wondered, "Max isn't with you?"

"No, he's patrolling." She shook her head and reached into her bag. "But I'm here to return this." After fiddling inside her bag for a long minute, she pulled out my wallet and handed it over to me.

I grew surprised and a bit furious. A scowl appeared on my face and Alicia continued, "My cousin's best friend was the one who had stolen it. She was a bit scared so I came here to return it to you. Though, it lacks a bit of cash but that shouldn't be a problem for you."

My hand wrapped around the wallet and I opened it. The cards were there, misplaced but the cash was gone. The important part was what was sewed inside hadn't been touched or opened.

I blew out a hot breath, bothered with this all. I thought it would've been that girl who would've returned the wallet to me since she was the one who had stolen it and I gave her clear instructions to hand it back to me. It would have given me another chance to inhale her scent and confirm whether or not she was my mate.

I wanted her to be here.

My jaw clenched and I nodded, "Thank you, Alicia."

"I know her, her name is Rebekah and she's a human so don't go around terrifying her. It was a mistake, let it go." She spoke softly.

"I wasn't terrifying her," I rolled my eyes and groaned. This all was frustrating and I didn't know what to think or even say. "She attacked me and you know I have a temper."

"Doesn't matter. She's a human so hold yourself together and forgive her." She replied, waving her hand through the air.

It grew silent after that. I wanted to know more, every detail about that woman, Rebekah. Just the thought of her was reeling my senses and driving me crazy. If it was true—if she was my mate then there was going to be a lot of trouble coming forth.

"What is wrong, Chris?" She asked, narrowing her eyes.

"Nothing." I shook my head.

Pietro appeared out of nowhere, inserting himself in the conversation, "She's his mate and he's sad because he wanted to see her again, maybe fuck her as well but now that's not going to happen because he has his wallet back and he cannot get to that girl again." He slammed his rough hands over my shoulders from behind and I growled at him.

"You have two seconds to leave from this room before I sent an order out to kill Elena." I threatened him without a thought. His unnecessary involvement in this conversation was causing trouble.

Pietro didn't think, he sprinted out of the room after dropping the bomb. Thankfully, there was no one in the room except for Alicia, my brother and me. Another person hadn't heard what he had screamed or then there would be a big mess, a mess I needed to clean.

"What?" Alicia looked at me with wide eyes. "Your mate? Is that true?" She asked and waited for me to confirm but I didn't say anything. "Christopher!" She leaned forward, holding her pregnant belly and said.

"You cannot tell anyone. Not even Maxwell." I stated.

"It's true?" Her brows rose. "Tell me. I won't utter a word about this to anyone. You can trust me."

I knew I could trust Alicia, after all, she was a part of this family. Maxwell was my first cousin and her husband. They were married for over six years and were to have children now. Both of them were a decade older than me, wiser and the only ones in my family left alive except for Pietro and I.

"I'm not sure about it." I shook my head, not knowing what I had to say to her. "I need to be sure first, therefore, I need to see her again and you're going to arrange that." I looked up at her, twisting this all for my own benefit.

"For as long as you take a oath that you wouldn't kill her." Alicia replied, knowing well enough. She knew that I didn't want a mate or a weakness and to do, I would do anything.

I scoffed, "I wouldn't dare!"

"Please," She rolled her eyes and stood up. "I'll arrange the meeting after you send me a written letter that you wouldn't kill her." She continued, making it all more difficult for me.

How could I possible write that?

"Fine. I will."

Written letters didn't matter, not for me. I could kill anyone I would want to, simply because I was an Alpha and there was no one greater than me.

"Good. I'll arrange a meeting for this week." She paced back and forth while rubbing her belly and taking in heavy breaths.

"No. Tonight!" I exclaimed, wanting to see that girl right away.

"Yeah, not possible." She shook her head and continued walking.
