Chapter 36
I wasn't scared.
Not even the slightest. When I first thought about Faye's words, I imagined walking into a party full of werewolves, shifting and biting each other's heads off while howling under the full moon but I was wrong. The werewolves weren't even wolves, they were like me, human. There was nothing to fear.
My fear washed away the minute I tossed down a shot. Upon the second one, I began laughing at it all. At the fourth one, I realized I didn't need to be scared of anyone, whether it was a werewolf or Christopher.
I didn't need to fear anyone.
The whole idea of werewolves was still sinking inside me. It had been a few days since Faye told me about it but I was taking it well. They were just humans that could turn into animals, sometimes. There was nothing terribly wrong about that.
"What are you thinking?" Faye screamed as I went in for another shot.
I took the glass of the table and held it with my two fingers while trying hard to remember which shot I was taking. Probably fifth. "Would you ever kill me?" I asked her.
"No, why would I do that?" She replied, shaking her head.
She was screaming on the top of her lungs but I barely heard her through the music and since alcohol was kicking in, I began hearing something else.
"Don't kill me, please."
"I won't."
"You're going to kill me now?"
"No. I'll kill you tomorrow." She grabbed the shot glass from my hand and rolled her eyes before dragging me away from the lounges and onto the dance floor. "Move your ass in that tight suit."
"It's not even that tight." I ran my hand down my body, feeling the material brush against my skin. Somehow, the costume fitted me perfectly this once.
Different shades of light swirled, sweaty bodies slammed against each other at the beat of the loud song and danced. I shook my self, lightly, in front of Faye before we began dancing with others. There was an energetic crowd here, youngsters enjoying the night and partying. It felt wild and worth every minute. When I began to get a little tipsy, the music became louder in my ears and a buzz spun through my head.
My heart beat quicker, thundering in my chest before a hand was pressed against my hip. I turned, hoping it would be Faye but instead, I found someone better.
A young man.
My smile tightened and I ran my tongue over my lips before dancing along with him. He placed his both hands over my hips and I moved my arms to his shoulders, simply enjoying the night before it ended.
I didn't care much.
I savored every moment
"Taken?" He asked, inching closer to my face.
He was handsome, broad shoulders, strong features and his cologne was intoxicating—or maybe he had too many drinks.
A chuckle escaped my throat before I shook my head, "Of course not."
"Mhm, that's always good to know."
I withdrew my arms from his shoulders and trailed my hands down to where his were placed, on my hips. Giving him a light push, I backed away and grinned, "Come back after an hour and we'll talk."
The man returned a warm smile as I faded from his sight and tried to find Faye so she could help me not mingle with men. It wasn't a good time. Bodies surrounded me, people danced and screamed as I went past them to leave the dance floor.
