this is the longest one so far.
10k words and it is a doozy.
"This is so fucking sick, how did you even get this Bobbie?" Jake said with wide eyes and a smile, running around to the other side of the volkswagen camper van.
"My moms boyfriend owns it. He loves me and said we could use it for the week." I shrugged, watching as the twins gaped at it. The twins and I were about to leave to go get everyone else, and we had just come back from getting the van.
Josh started loading the luggage into the van, going on and on about how cool he thought it was.
"Your moms boyfriend must be so cool, does he use this all the time?" Josh was walking around the van, exploring the small space.
"Yeah, I am pretty cool." Jake joked, and I elbowed him in the ribs.
"Shut the fuck up." I laughed, making him get inside the van and sit down.
"You driving?" Jake asked me, as I was the last one in.
"Nose goes." I quickly covered my nose with my finger, and Josh immediately followed after.
"Hell yeah." Jake nodded, making his way to the drivers seat.
"If you crash this you have to apologize to him." I said in reference to Roman, my moms boyfriend. He's super cool, and the closest thing to a father figure I've had in a while.
"Cant apologize to myself, honey." Jake cockily winked in the mirror, and I laughed with a shake of my head.
Josh scoffed, followed by an eyeroll.
There was a row of seats up front, and in the back were seats surrounding a fold out table. When the table was snapped back into the wall, the seats could be folded out to make a bed. There was storage all over the place, and we shoved everything in every nook and cranny we could find.
Roman ironically named the van Athena, and she would be our home for the next 5 days. Sam had the splendid idea of going camping to celebrate the first bit of warm weather.
However, early march was still kinda chilly up north.
Another splendid idea of Sams was to go all the way upstate, to camp in the mountains. I wasn't against it at all, and was very excited for the scenery. Plus, I know a place. I was nervous for the trip though, and nervous to be away from home.
Since the night I kicked Eli out, I've felt different. I'm not entirely sure what all of the feelings are, all I knew is that I definitely felt lighter. Although I felt like a weight was off of my shoulders, I did notice a spike in my anxiety. But with all of my friends around it tended to go down.
The early morning sun shined through the windows as Jake pulled out of the apartment buildings parking garage. I sipped my iced coffee, thankful I managed to get these days off of work.
We stopped at Carrie's house, letting them into the van and graciously accepting the breakfast they had brought for us all.
"Thank you." I said to the three of them, not sure who bought what.
Sam went to go sit up front with Jake, while Carrie and Danny joined Josh and I in the back. We ate at the small table, enjoying the music that Sam had blasting through the speakers.
"So how long is the drive?" Danny asked, and I pressed my lips into a line.
"Seven hours." I sucked my teeth, and Danny just casually nodded.
