My eyes flutter open and I immediately stretch out my limbs. The air is still and everything is so quiet that I'm calm for a minute before all the previous events replay in my head.
B: Marina?
I call out as I step out of the guest bedroom. I hear her answer from the kitchen. I follow her voice.
M: hey. How'd you sleep? She says while smiling at me.
I look down to the baby who is cradled in her arms. I gently twirl her hair in my hand.
B: good. I should probably head back soon.
M: let me make you breakfast first. Here, she places the baby in my arms.
B: oh ok.
. . .
She places a plate of pancakes rimmed with strawberries, under drizzled syrup. And another plate with eggs and bacon. My mouth waters at the sight.
B: I love you so much.
She laughs while taking the baby back in her arms.
M: eat up and then be on your way. Don't want to keep Vallyk waiting. She raises her eyebrows up and down.
I can't help but laugh at her gesture and immediately dig into the meal.
I practically clean the plate as soon as I take the first bite. I must have forgotten to eat. I tend to skip meals when I'm upset. It's a bad habit I need to get rid of.
M: oh my gosh. When's the last time you ate? She'd watched the whole time as I devoured the plate.
B: Doesn't matter. Look, I should go. I've extended my stay enough.
She nods. We walk over to the front door and I hug her as hard as I've ever hugged anyone.
B: thank you so much. My voice is muffled in her shoulder.
M: no problem. She rubs my backs. It was so nice seeing you again. Please come visit more, she pushes me to arms length and looks me in the eyes, not just when you have boy problems.
I chuckle
B: will do. But can't make any promises.M: get out of here. She shoos me away with a faux annoyed expression on her face.
B: love you. My lips spread into a smile. Kiss baby Lina for me. I blows kisses to her as I walk to my car.
M: love you too!
. . .
My heart rate quickens every mile closer I get to the New York City. I try to calm my nerves by drowning out the noise in my head with music.
I finally arrive at Vallyk's apartment building. In the back of my mind I acknowledge that Ashley could be here, which would make what I'm about to do very awkward. But I don't care. I have to take a leap of faith. I'll never be happy if I don't.
I reach the fourth floor and knock on the apartment door. I let out a mental sight of relief when the door opens to reveal Vallyk. I glance past him and boxes catch my eye. My eyes land back onto Vallyk's face and he looks upset.
V: Bella, he exhales.
B: Are you ok?
V: Im moving out.
So much for that leap of faith.
A/n: I know it's been forever since I last updated. I lost motivation because my insecure self felt like no one was reading my story bc I wasn't getting as much interaction lmao. But I just want to get this story done and out off my conscious because I haven't been keeping with Vallyk for over a year now. I feel like this update is really quick. I would love some feedback <3 sorry for the long wait
