ASHTON VACARA'S POV

A heartbreaker. That's what she had called me. A heartbreaker. A guy who apparently went arround, breaking girl's hearts for fun...was that really me?

"Tell you what," her voice brought me back to earth. That beautiful beautiful voice that I was desperately in love with. "Starting from now, we have a truce. Not a friendship-a truce. If you want, you can start earning my trust. Then maybe I'll trust you enough to start a relationship. That date, I have to go on, is probably worth some trust points. Note how I said some. Remember, this is your decision. I can't tell you what to do or control your actions, but if you want to go ahead and accept my offer, go ahead, but just a warning. Be prepared for anything. Don't assume anything, especially time and feelings. You won't earn my trust in a season let alone a month. It could take a year at least or possibly a couple of years, depending on everything. Don't assume that if you do something nice, that moves you up a step. just what ever you do, don't assume. Not a good idea. It' your choice take it or leave it," She offered. I blinked. No way, this wasn't happening. I pulled the car to a stop outside the swimming pool. Kona and Kadence hopped out.
"Hey, Kadence," I called out. She turned around.
"Yeah?" She asked.
"I'll pick you guys up after practice, what time does it end?" I asked.
"Five thirty," She replied. I could tell she was trying hard not to smile and I was trying to keep talking in complete words as her hair blew around her face in the wind making her look stunning.
"You guys don't mind waiting forty-five minutes. I know it's a long time, but we end at six and it takes us like fifteen minutes to change," I informed her.
"We have to change too, but we've gotten that down to five or ten minutes," She replied.
"So you don't mind?" I asked.
"Nope," She replied. "Hey, wait!" She called out before I drove away.
"What's up?" I asked.
"I'm guessing this is a yes," She replied.
"A yes for what?" I asked.
"My offer," She replied softly.
"Bring it on," I replied. She grinned and turned around waving her hand.
"Have fun beating people with sticks at practice, Ash!" She called out.
"I will!" I replied, smiling.
Ash. She'd called me Ash. What did that mean? Did she like me? Were we friends now?
Whoa there buddy. It's just a name, nothing to get excited about. It's just a nickname.
But at the same time I knew. It wasn't just a nickname. It's wasn't just a name. It was step closer.
Remember what she said. Don't ASSUME! Don't ASSUME! Listen to her! Don't ASSUME!
She was right. I was going to drive myself insane if I didn't focus. Lacrosse. Big game on Friday. Practice. Goals.

Next Saturday night, I was in jeans, a grey T-shirt, and navy blue converse. I rang Kadence's doorbell. The door opened. Even though she wasn't facing me, I could see what she was wearing. A grey dress that stopped above her knees, and black wedges. Her long caramel wavy hair that was curled to perfect was all hanging on her right shoulder. A navy blue purse hung from her left shoulder. Then she turned around and I forgot how to breath. Kadence stepped back. Austin smirked behind her and laughed. She narrowed her eyes at him and smacked the back of his head. He reached up to do the same, but Kadence snatched his hand and glared at him.
"This took two hours, Austin! I will kill you if you mess my hair up!" She growled. Austin rolled his eyes and shot her a look, but retreated to his room, after he glanced at me and started cracking up. I heard him mumble: "she's so going to murder him when she sees what he's wearing. Have fun,"
"Two hours? Am I really that special, Kammerron?" I smirked. She whirled around and I couldn't forgot how to breath again. I didn't even notice that she flinched when I said her full name. "Woah," I murmured and couldn't help but stare.
"What are you wearing?" She asked suspiciously, looking me up and down as if I was another girl. "Wait, are you checking me out?!"
"Huh? Oh, uh, no!" I replied quickly.
Alright Ashton full sentences! You can do it buddy!
"Ashton?!" Kadence waved her hand in my face and brought me back to earth.
"Hmmm?"
"What are you wearing?" She looked like she was about to crack up. I raised an eyebrow.
"Right back at you," I remarked.
"Well, I thought we were going to like a really nice restaurant so I thought I'd dress nicely," she replied, narrowing her eyes at me.
"I decided to change plans. Besides, I'm kind of tired from the big game last night. So, instead of going out I decided that maybe we could watch a movie together at my place. And before you freak out. My parents are home and no funny business, I promise," I informed her.
"Oh, if that's the case, I'm gonna go change," She retreated back to her room.
"Your going to fall on your face with those heals," I pointed out. she threw her head back and laughed.
"Their cutting off my blood circulation too!" She called out. When she returned she had on blue plaid pajama pants, cream colored Uggs, and a New Orleans Saints Football sweatshirt. Her hair was in a messy bun, but annoyed with it she undid the bun and kept her curled hair down. I raised an eyebrow at the sweatshirt.
"Traitor," I murmured. She shot me a look. I raised my hands up as if I were innocent.
"Hey, I'm loyal in baseball! Isn't that enough!" She protested. I snorted. She rolled her eyes.
"What movie do you want to watch," I asked her as I showed her my family's giant shelf with almost every movie.
"That's a lot of movies," She pointed out. I laughed and rolled my eyes in a positive motion.
"I know. We've been collecting for a while now," I mused. She threw her head back and laughed. Her smile lit up the room.
"I don't care as long as it's not a horror movie," She replied. I raised an eyebrow at her.
"Scared?" I taunted. She still had that crazy grin on her face and she narrowed her eyes at me in a positive challenging motion.
"No, I just know that trick all to well," She grinned evilly. I nodded in approval and tried to keep from laughing.
"How do you know this if you've never dated?" I asked in a challenging tone.
"Please. It's the oldest trick in the book along with the yawned and extending your arm," She replied. I smiled.
"You know your stuff," I commented. She beamed with pride. I couldn't help but snort. she shot me look and I shut up.
"Why thank you," She smiled.
"But, you didn't let me finish, this heartbreaker still has a bunch of tricks up his sleeve," I grinned. She narrowed her eyes at me.
"Yeah, and none of which you will use on me," She warned. I shrugged and smiled. "Ashton!" She warned.
"Alright! Alright! I'm not gonna use them on you. Don't get your pony in a twist," I grumbled. She smiled and turned her head to the TV. Oh Kadence Monroe, you have no idea how gullible you can be.
