It was a sunny day on the Oregon Coast, which was rare. Usually clouds hung thick over the sun, but today was different. Today had an ominous aura.
Iris, a blonde haired, blue eyed short tempered girl played near the edge of the ocean. The waves gently pushing against her small feet. She faintly heard her father and mother in the background, but the sound of the waves overcame their voices. Strangely she felt an urge to stare out into the horizon.
Suddenly all was white. She looked around.
"Where am I?"
Her voice echoed in the whiteness.
"You are in Heaven my sweet Iris."
A deep voice said. She looked around startled. Heaven. She had only briefly heard her parents talk about that place before, but they only ever talked about it when..
"Am I dead?"
Her voice was nothing more than a whisper.
"Of course...not!"
The voice answered. A sudden rush of air blew her hair back, she squinted and shielded her face. When the air had passed her she put down her hands. There was a man in front of her, but not like any man she had ever seen.
He was dressed in a white tunic with gold embroidered on the seems. When she looked up at where his face should have been all she saw was a golden blur of sorts. Like a faded imprint of where a face should have been. He was tall from what she could tell, but at her age everyone was tall.
"Who are you?"
She said loudly. The man seemed to peer down at her.
"Apparently your parents haven't taught you much yet have they now. I am god."
"Uh no, you aren't."
She folded her arms and scowled. The "god" man seemed irritated.
"Uh yes I am you brat, you're only 7 what do you know!"
"I know lots!"
The god man waved his hand in the air.
"Fine fine, whatever you say. Anyways I have an assignment for you little one."
"What's an asss-signment?
"It's a mission, a task if you will, one might say a chore."
"Ugh, I hate chores."
The god man threw his golden arms in the air in annoyance.
"That's besides the point. Now listen up, you have been chosen to be this century's Guardian Angel. Your CHORE is to protect the humans from these nasty beasts called "The Entity's."
"Beasts? Entity's? Angel?"
Iris said, very very confused. This was too much for a seven year old brain to handle.
"Yes yes, it will all be throughly explained in your training lessons. But I thought I should introduce myself first. Makes it less confusing for newcomers. You shall be brought to Heaven once a day, everyday, for training, until you are qualified to wield a Holy Weapon and hold the title of Guardian Angel."
The look on Iris's face was blank. She had no clue what was going on. She just wanted to go back to the beach.
"Well that's all. See you tomorrow sweet Iris. Oh, I almost forgot to mention, you'll occasionally have a training partner. His name is Lucifer. I shall explain next time. Ta ta for now."
She blinked. The waves crashed against her feet, the sun shone on her face. She was back on the coast. Well that was weird. She turned and ran back to where her parents were. Hopefully I won't have to see that god man guy again.
But she did see that "God man" the next day, the day after the next and the next next day after the next day.
