"Hell? Isn't that a bad place full of demons?"
Iris questioned, god looked down at her.
"No and yes, no it's not a completely bad place. It's just not to my taste. And yes, there are demons."
She must have given him one seriously confused face, because god proceeded to elaborate.
"You see Hell is a rather dark and gloomy. Satan seems to like it that way, he claims that the demons prefer the negative atmosphere. It keeps them calm and in line."
She crossed her arms. He was taking to long to get to the point as per usual. He continued..
"Oh I nearly forgot to mention, Satan is the king of the underworld. Though he is rather difficult to get a long with, that's why I stay up here and he stays down below. Have to set boundaries you know."
Lucifer looked just at zoned out as Iris felt. Her short temper was rising.
"Get to the point. Why is this Lucy-kid here?"
Lucifer snapped back to reality.
"The name is Lucifer, remember it princess."
He said pointedly. Iris stepped forward.
"You're not old enough to boss me around punk. I can call you whatever I want. Luci."
He also stepped forward.
     "Try 40 years old."
     "What did you just say?"
     "Forty years."
"How is that possible? You don't look any older than me!"
    God stepped between them.
"Okay settle down, I suppose I forgot mention that Lucifer is also a demon. Second in command to Satan in fact."
"How do you forget to mention something like that?!"
Iris was yet again getting overwhelmed, this was too much for an eight year old brain.
"It just slipped my mind. Anyways, demons have different biological clocks compared to most races. Their minds tend to grow at a different rate than their bodies. So in human years he's technically eight, but in demon years he's forty."
"Good to know. Now why exactly did we have to meet again?"
    God sighed.
"The main point of today was for you two to be introduced. A great evil is coming, over the last few centuries it's been gaining power. The Devil and I have been holding it back as much as possible, but it's been tearing away at our defenses. We have at best ten years before those barriers will be completely destroyed."
    Lucifer glanced up at god.
"What exactly is this evil you speak of?"
"We named it "The Entity" not very creative I know, but nonetheless. There are other smaller versions of the entity, it seems to be able to break off pieces of itself to create an army. I've never actually seen it in person, so I can't describe exactly what it is you will face. But regardless, Satan and I have made a temporary pact to train you to the best of our abilities. Light an Darkness working as a team will be the most powerful combo this world has ever seen."
Iris an Lucifer made eye contact. I have to partner with this weirdo. Both thought in unison.
Iris: Wait.
Did I just hear his thoughts??
Lucifer: Yup.
Iris: How on earth is this possible?
Lucifer: Let's start off with I'm a Demon     and you're an almost Angel. Simple
     enough for ya.
Iris: Don't get snappy with me Luci. Just
because your brain is forty in demon
years doesn't mean you're smart in
     human years.
Lucifer: Whatever child.
"Eyes back on me please. Save the team work telepathy for another time."
Iris and Lucifer snapped back to attention.
"Starting today you two will take turns visiting Heaven and Hell for various training. This will continue until Iris has gained the title of Guardian Angel, and until you Lucifer grow into a full fledged battle demon. In the mean time here and there you'll be sent on missions to defend the human race as the situation arises. Now if you got all that, that'll be all for today. Farewell."
God disappeared. All was silent. Lucifer grunted.
"Well this will be fun."
"Absolutely fantastic."
She replied. Silence. She spoke again.
"I guess I'll see you tomorrow."
"Yup, peace out Princess."
They both faded back to the worlds they belonged. Iris woke at her kitchen table, she glanced around. No one. Well this will be interesting.
