She flew back up, this time armed with her blade. The hoard was making its way down.
Meanwhile back on the ground Lucifer was surveying the humans. He walked around the group, each heavily armored footstep shaking the ground. Only two in particular caught his attention.
Those two girls are who Iris was talking to earlier. Maya and Britt were looking between where Iris was, and him. He could tell they were fighting back fear. Amusing.
He walked over to the girls, and leaned down to see them better. They held his gaze.
    "What are your names?"
They looked at eachother, then looked back. The red head said,
"I'm Maya"
The black haired one said,
"I'm Britt"
He nodded and rose to his full height.
   "I see."
Britt snapped.
   "You see what!"
He glanced down.
"Iris talked about you two all last year. Nonstop."
The girls looked at eachother again and looked back.
"How do you know her? Who are you?"
Lucifer debated on telling them Iris's version of the truth or his version. He went with his version.
"Name is Lucifer. Next in line to be demon king. As far as how I know her..."
He glanced up, Iris was already mid combat. He smirked and looked at the girls.
    "I'm her future husband."
Their jaws dropped. They squealed
    "Iris has a fiancée!"
They froze and looked back at him
"If you're really her fiancé why aren't you up there helping her!"
He snorted.
"Do you know her? I'd get my head chopped off if I tried to help her before it became necessary."
He looked up.
"Looks like it just became necessary."
A few entity's had gotten past her guard.
    "Bye for now kids!"
He crouched low, took three massive steps, then leapt into the air. He became nothing more than a blur, his onyx blade danced through the air. Entity's fell in pieces to the ground far below.
Meanwhile Iris was above, her sword flashed left and right. Each swipe taking out dozens of Entity's. I really hate my job. She glanced down at lucifer, he looked like he was having a blast. He was laughing like a child, he was a demon after all. Sweat and blood smeared her face. There seemed to be no end. I'm sick of this, time to shut them down. She hollered down to Lucifer.
"Hey Luce I'm going to use a pillar of light!"
She heard a muffled,
"You've only used that a few times! It'll just make you weaker!"
"Well I need to practice it more! This is a good of time as any, clear me a path!"
She heard him yell,
"Ten thousand divine cuts!"
The entity's in front of her froze and then glowed with thousands of purple cuts, they shrieked one last time and then crumbled to dust. The wind swept them away.
Then lucifer appeared by her side. He was actually panting a little bit.
"Who's tired now?"
His eyes narrowed.
"This air is different from down below. Little harder to breath."
She smiled.
"Now you know how it felt when I visited hell, so hot and humid it was hard to breath."
He shrugged.
"Whatever, get this party started"
He tensed and readied himself. She took a deep breath. A drop of golden blood leaked from her arm and fell to the ground far below. She focused all her energy, her eyes began to glow golden. She began to chant.
"Our father who art in Heaven banish those of evil. Let them commit no sin."
She raised her free hand, directed at the portal. More entity's we're pouring through.
"Begone."
A beam of pure light shot directly into the portal. The force of it created the violent humming noise and made the entity's howl in pain. They were beginning to melt. The portal began to close. The edges glowed bright green.
Iris could feel a force behind the light, it was evil, it's mind was shrouded in a dark mist that she could not penetrate. Then she felt a sudden rush of fear. No!
As the portal was just about to close, a black spined tentacle shot through. It aimed directly at Lucifer. She cut off the power and lept in front of him. Despite his demon reflexes he was not going to be fast enough for this.
The portal closed, the tentacle was severed. The world seemed to spin, then all went black. She fell.
