Chapter 6: Heavenly Protection

    "Everyone listen up!"
Iris shouted as loud as she possibly could. Everyone jumped and looked at her. She cleared her throat.
    "I know y'all ain't going to believe me, but just shut up and listen. We don't have time for arguing."
Everyone remained silent.
"Short story version. That...
(she pointed up at the green crack in the sky)
is a portal. And in less than three minutes a     whole lot of nasty is about to come flying out.
    So I need everyone to gather to the center of             
    the field. Right now!"
She looked into their eyes. Yup. Just as she thought. They didn't believe her.
"Why the hell should we listen to you!"
Sara shouted, a few people cheered. Iris shrugged.
"Well it's either listen or die, your choice."
Sara turned as pale, if that was even possible through her spray tan. A loud cracking noise broke through the sky, Iris looked up. A slimy black creature had pushed through the portal.   
An Entity. It had long talons for hands, it's feet were human shaped, and it's face...it's face was horrid. It had three beady black eyes, no nose, and had a drooling maw of needle like teeth.
     The Entity shrieked. And flew down on invisible wings strait down toward the crowd. They were all frozen in fear. Morons.
Iris crouched and lept to the air above the mass and floated right above. Right as the entity was upon them Iris punched its jaw, she felt slimy flesh crunch under her knuckles. With a sonic boom the beast was thrown back strait up into the portal from whence it came. Iris remained hovering above the crowd. She glanced down. All jaws were open with their eyes nearly popping out of socket.
She flew back to where she was before.
"Now group up!"
They jumped to their feet and huddled as close as possible together. Including Maya and Britt.
"Stay still."
Iris held out a hand, fingers extended. Under her breath she muttered
"By the grace of god above protect your earthy children from the evil that is upon us. This I pray."
A clear golden tinted bubble encircled the crowd.
"What is this?"
She heard someone ask.
"It's heavenly protection. If you step outside of it I cannot guarantee your safety."
Then Iris heard Maya mutter.
"Who...who are you Iris?"
Iris smiled brightly back at Mayas scared face.
(Start music*)
"That's a great question."
The sky seemed to explode, the green portal above stretched wider. Releasing the first wave of Entity's. A shrieking dark mass started to descend. She looked back at Maya and Britt,
"To answer your question.."
A white light enveloped her, her clothes disappeared, and were replaced with a white one piece tank top and combat shorts. Revealing her muscular legs. She wore a silver chest plate, and silver bracers. Her black combat boots where replaced with white ones. Her hair was swept up, braided, and held in place with a silver thread. A silver band lined her brow. It was adorned with a single small diamond. Her face had hints of subtle makeup that enhanced her rose colored lips and blue eyes. She was powerful and beautiful.
      She winked at both Maya and Britt.
"I'm your Guardian Angel."
